I moved into my own apartment (abroad) at 18, and was working full time and going to school full time by 19. I suppose those kinds of things vary with every person, but by 25 you should at least be moved out of mom and dad's... :( Or in my opinion, at least. I could understand if you maybe hit a rough patch and had to crash with them for a while, but never having left to begin with? Eehhh...

In J's hubs defense. It's different for everyone. A lot has to do with his preparation to join society at different levels.

That's why we say different strokes for different folks.

It just so happens that the few of us that landed in this thread, coincidentally are pretty independent.

But that goes back to me saying. 25 is a very diversified age.

35 year olds have a narrower range of thought. Mostly worried about making a living. Raising a family.

45 year olds have even narrower thoughts. Get the retirement funds straight etc....

examples...

Of course there are people like Gump...."duh....I'll worry about it when I get there"

Then there are people like Tiff's good cousin, the one I mentioned before. He wants to be educated, he wants to work. He's 24 now.

Can we pick on somebody now? for my entertainment?

ya, I left when i was 15 for one year and until I was 18 I had not spent much time at home at all and moved out entirely at 19 and came back only 1.5 years ago. I think me and him have very different life experiences....I get why he is the way he is but I think he miss-understood that as me agreeing with it for some reason. I wish all of the differences came out earlier....he seemed to have believed different things than he does now...or maybe he decided not to fully disclose them because I would have bolted.

Maybe I should have not taken on all the responsibilities when visiting him...he should have contributed to my flying back and forth, maybe I should have made him realize I dont poo money and I worked hard for what I had, maybe I should have made sure he was the one applying for the visa and doing the paperwork, maybe I should have .....a lot of things. It is not a maybe...I should have listened to my doubt.

I'll be redundant....

a man's gotta have ####### to put on the table.

(I tell that to Tiff's cuz all the time).

(It's easy for me to say that now, because I was full-o-####### to put on the table :) )

I think both parties should work together to bring something to the table, even if only one of them is working. J's hubby could be doing a lot more, insofar as being supportive and whatnot. And as somebody else said, this is mostly his mother's fault for always spoon feeding him, but as an adult he should realize he's gotta step up at some point and stop leeching off of others. The fact that he's spoiled doesn't mean he can't come to terms with the situation and realize something's wrong and he should change.

I'm not very tolerant of these kinds of situations, though. My brother is a bit of a mooch himself and those kinds of people really agitate me, especially when they're pulling hard working people down with them.

I think both parties should work together to bring something to the table,

that's true. However, I'm a bit traditional.

1- I want to be the provider.

2- I want to be the one to fix things around the house.

3- Because it makes me feel better.

4- And I think it gives Tiff a great sense of security.

5- She knows who da man :)

I am thinking....I have been eating a lot of vegan balls lately and clearly i am to be the man in this marriage....eventually I will grow actual balls and become a man. Might as well.

From my observations here, I think all of you are gonna do alright....

But I can't see who's the most ambitious one outta this group....

So, it's me. I'm the most ambitious one here.

And I want you younger ones to be more ambitious than me.

psh..psh ! psh !!
