there was an artist a while back who did a series of pieces on human trafficking victims. one of the victims featured was whipped and then made to sit in a bath filled with part water and part chilli-imbued sesame oil. sad.png

flavour-imbued oil = no good

the piece was beautiful though...artist reached out to a lot of people with that exhibit.

I read that when heated to high temps it is better to use coconut oil or safflower since the smoking point is higher. Is all. Not that it causes cancer or anything but that its benefits are negated.

The benefits start degrading, but you'll notice in that report not as fast as in other oils. So do you want some or none? The smoke point is not as high as you think in the oils you're using, coconut is actually lower. Safflower is higher, but only if its refined safflower. But not really much higher than refined olive oil, or what's called extra light olive oil.

Why did the artist put a whipped 11 year old girl in spicy oil?

uhm - skin and whatnots reaction to these additives vary, so pay attention when yer experimenting, next time, then report back, when able.

If I use extra virgin, does it make her a virgin again?

interesting, sounding more like a hijacking now.

Malaysia's military believes the airliner missing for almost four days with 239 people on board flew for more than an hour after vanishing from air traffic control.

Air force chief Rodzali Daud has been quoted as saying the plane was tracked flying over the Strait of Malacca, on the other side of the country to where it disappeared from civilian radar

the artist didn't do that! :P her artwork featured a girl who had a number of terrible things done to her by her traffickers, such as being whipped and then made to sit in spicy bathwater -- medium was photography.

So he took pictures of people who were once abused? How would you even know it was an abused person unless there were scars left?

Got a link to his work, I want to see how he got his point across.

Google news page often has strange pictures paired with the article.

Like this one of a Minnesota state rep, currently under fire for a statement he tweeted.

All I keep thinking is he's saying "Forget the tweet, here's a puppy."

the artist is kay chernush. i couldn't find that piece online though -- copyright issues maybe? the pieces were abstract, no victims were shown. it's not about exposing the victims, but about exposing the acts that were committed against them.

this is also by kay chernush, similar to the one i was talking about.

OK starting to get it from that photo then. Must have been some story to go along with the exhibit then.
