Where is Darnell, when I need him to help answer tough questions in upper forum?

is possible you missed the memo - my days of giving any immigration advice are nearly over. imo, if a human cannot find and use the advanced search tool, then f 'em.

Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

So no driver's permit for me. The RI DMV want to see something more long-term than my K1 I-94. So if the NOA1 from AOS says it authorizes a new period of stay, that might work. If not, it'll have to be the EAD/AP Combo Card in.. July.

I feel like a burden on Amy now. I don't want her running me around - and if there were any bus links around this part of Cranston, I'd happily get on the bus and go explore.

It might be where we end up tho since housing is cheaper there. We'll try to concentrate on the better places like closer to Englewood or Foxfield. I'd prefer to live in Parker.

We have a friend who lives there, by Quincy reservoir and it's not too bad of an area there. Further north than that gets scary IMHO.

I don't know too much about Parker. For me, I think if I remember correctly, I'd rather live in like Golden, Arvada, Centennial, maybe Wheat Ridge, or Highlands Ranch. I really like LODO though, but it is more expensive. Looks like you are looking on the East side of Denver though, so those are probably too much commute time.

We are kind of in the same boat of trading off cost versus where we want to live. It is a bit of battle. I'm not terribly happy about the 45 minute commute times that we picked out, but that is fairly typical even for CT. For us, we have a lot of requirements for a town and really could only find one town that kind of met those requirements and then we've got additional housing considerations. A lot of the older houses we are looking at don't have enough ceiling clearance on the second floor (they are like 1910 1.5 story houses) for my husband and he wouldn't even be able to walk down the hallway to the bedrooms because of the slant. So, let's say the house costs 45k, then we need to factor in another 10-15k for dormering (my husband is hesitant to cut into a roof and do the framing all by himself) and make sure that we can actually get the permits to do that.

We are kind of maybe thinking about this one (attached) because it is all one floor, but we will have to see what happens.

We had trouble getting a learner's permit with the Dane's endorsed CR-1 Visa, which is proof of permanent residence. I was throwing a polite fit in the DMV office about it. We finally got a call back next day that they would accept it.

A bike is an idea, assuming it warms up any time soon and the snow disappears. Riding on the road is not a good idea where I live - RI drivers are known for not being particularly safe.

Clothes for an obese person? Not an easy find in charity resale. The coat I have works well against the cold so long as I'm wearing my gloves and hat.

As for tools.. eh.. if I'm fixing a computer I'm a dab hand, anything else I can do to a basic level. If I went that route I would need to do some studying up on the subject, as you say.

It isn't that cold here, maybe 40 F today. No need for parkas and the like while out bicycling. Heck, even I'm going out for a walk later with only a light fleece.

Also, just to add to what Comrade D said earlier, Merry: I'm of the same opinion for ALL the forums now, including UK. I'm tired of helping people who want to be spoonfed, or when you point out the information is readily available they get all huffy and rude.

In reference to the guy calling me condescending earlier (and frankly I don't care, the information is on this forum, Nich-Nick has posted on vaccination requirements extensively), I have half a mind to find that youtube clip of Father Jack Hackett from "Father Ted" saying sorry in a sarcastic manner.

And furthermore.. I shall now begin calling everyone Comrade <Insert first letter of nickname or screen name here>. Though I have yet to find a solution for Nola and Niki (Novembro on the other hand has been known as Wacko for some time and is therefore Comrade W). And T-B is exempt because.. well, I've called him Comrade T-B for some time now. I'm not changing.

I like 1 story houses personally. I've always been a fan of the ranch style or a one story with a basement (bungalow) but have found that split level tend to fit my needs the best... which is funny. but the one thing I have in mind is I don't want my bedroom to come off my living room. I hate that and always have, but it's popular with bungalow style houses.

Hubs works at Centennial airport which is actually in Englewood. So he doesn't want anything more than a 30 min in traffic commute.

So I redid the taxes with my mom's help. Didn't include my husband's income because he made too much to ask for some kind of credit on it and I found out I don't have to. And I'm gonna get an $1800 refund! YAY!!! I'm going to file once I get to Canada because I a) want a tax preparer to look over my stuff and make sure it's okay and b) it's cheaper to mail the taxes in from Canada than from the USA.
