Yutiao....a yutiao.....

Yo tiao?

Ya, that happens sometimes, but

my wife rarely rises before 10 am.

I am usually up and out by 6:00 AM. i am lucky, she cannot hear anything with the doors closed.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

And unless you're taking antibiotics, you are letting your body heal itself. The OTC meds are for symptom relief only.

Sudafed is a great reliever of cold/ flu symptoms.

Congee is a very nourishing food that even hospitals now serve for patients that can barely eat.

You could use some right now

yah for sure....i will make it. I got a lot of rice..I think...still...I hope.

I do have black rice but I dont think that would work.

you can make congee from black rice

but

let it soak for 3 hours before cooking

then once it's cooked,

set it aside for 3 hours

then remove half of it, add 2x water,

and cook at high heat until the rice disetegrates.

Congee is a convenience food, made with left over rice, usually from last nights meal.

You can chop some ham to go with it, a "thousand year old egg", some preserved radishes, chopped scallions, salt and pepper.

Toothache once posted a nice pic of congee when I was sick...

And if you use that method, you'd die of hunger before the cold gets better.....

Just boil the ####### out of rice, add water to make it soupy...

Congee was traditionally a peasant / monk food. A cup of rice feeds 10....

Slowly, it was realized that it's a great breakfast that didn't slow you down, and provided energy. And was nourishing to the sick.

The central pacific railroad was built on congee and salted fish...

J, if you go visit the professor, he gonna make you eat a balut!
