My 401 out of emerging markets right now. All in midcaps and stable. No bond funds.

Portfolios are half cash, then some short, and some core. a small amount of techs and other speculatives.

I think the emerging markets are gonna take a beating this year.

My husband has taken us out fishing but I guess the good fishing is a bit further away from us. I haven't looked into it too much, but I know they have trout in the northern part of the State.

No No, you misunderstand me. A fishing buddy, for you, is the friend that gives you half of his catch. No fishing (for you) required. Somehow, this fishing buddy either set up a barter system with you or your husband, or is a friend of your husband that goes where the lakes are, often. Who knows? you could also make a post on craigslist and seek a private transaction.

I lived on a lake for 2 years as a child. No, this wasn't fun and glamour, I was one of the dogsbodies that handled all of the scut work and stoop-labour. Still, it was a good learning experience for me, as I learned all about organic micro-farming on that 5 acre spread, and could clean and gut 50 pounds o fish in under 10 minutes. I rarely fish this century, but would gladly drop a trot line given the opportunity.

My small cap fund has been sucking wind the past few months, but did great last year, at 40%. I'm thinking that should be reallocated soonish, now that you bring it up. I just double checked and realized I pulled out of emerging markets a while ago. Now where to put that small cap money

yup. lots of stuff to overcome, but I think the bullet hit the mark recently, based on other physiological symptoms, recently manifested.

I'm lucky, in one sense, I suppose, in that she wants to have a baby with me.

dont put that small cap anywhere yet. this looks like another down day. Wait for the next pop before you shift. You gotta time it....but I trust you know a bit about this anyway.

Last few years were phenomenal. It's hard to beat.

But it's good that you bailed from the EM..... There's more pain ahead.

To me, there was no recovery in the past few years. Just another bubble.... 3 words....
