Hi Guys, I am a US citizen filing for my husband in Spain. We have a daughter, also a US citizen already, and we have currently been waiting 9 months for just the I-130 to be processed. We received a notification that it was transferred to the Nebraska location and should be done in 60 days, but it has now been 62. When I called the service center I was told to wait another 180 days for processing. I know the load is heavy, but our finances are running low. Is anyone else having this waiting problem? Does any one know if there are other options offered? Does anyone know what is going on?

Thanks guys

I am afraid not, Seana.

Try to be patient, although I know this is outrageous. Your file will be processing very soon, you will see.

Meanwhile, try to contact (write) your state Congressman/woman and asking for his/her help.

Many people do that.

Besides, try to write to the American Ambassador to Spain too, explaining him your concern. Maybe you are lucky.

If your finnaces are running low, try to request for an expedite. But you will have to show this. Have a look at the uscis webpage about requirements to expedite on this issue.

I´ve just started my journey two months ago (Im the Spanish beneficiary), but at least we are together here in Madrid.

Be confindent, have faith!!

Thanks Altito. I am lucky, we do get to stay here with my husband during this process, so much to be thankful for. I am just so ready to get home, and my husband has had job offers already. It gets frustrating when you have to tell the employer that you don't know the time line of when you can move because you are in the middle of the processing. Thanks! It's good to know we are not alone.

Hi Seana Willis,

We've started the waiting nearly 3 months ago now (in Nebraska directly). I'm the beneficiary.

I really hope you get approved in the next days. Not being able to plan even roughly what is going to happen in the next months is pretty hard.

You mentioned that your husband has already a job offer without a starting date to give to his employer.

I don't know yet when I should start contacting companies to look for a new job where my husband lives. I was wondering what field your husband is working in if it’s not too indiscreet. So that I can relate or not to your husband’s case…

Hi, My husband is a graphic designer/creative designer. He has had a lot of great offers that we have had to pass up because of this, but I am breathing and thankful that i can be with him through this process. This recent offer is one company willing to wait to him, so that is a huge plus, but it is frustrating. We want to look at apartments, and get shipping estimates, and find good schools for our daughter, and all of this pending because we don't have a time line. As for times to start contacting employers, I would start after you get the I-130 approved, or when you have your appointment date at your consulate. Once you have that date, you have a better estimate of time before you can start work. My husband got lucky, people are contacting him from his online resume from linkadin, so he hasn't even started to look. Makes it that more frustrating sending the response... but my hopes are high, and I am grateful and breathing, lol. The only advice I can pass along is to keep your chin up, even if you end up waiting a while, like we have been.

Totally agreed!

I already sent my résumé to some Californian companies before getting my I-130 approved and it is a waste of time!.

Employers showed interest on me but asked for real availability to start and/or have a job interview.

The best moment is once the way is cleared. I am thinking of attaching my NOA2 (when it arrives) to the openings I eventually apply to...
