Obama, as usual, has his head in the sand. Thoughtful analysis that tells it like it is...

http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2014/mar/03/my-brothers-keeper-obama-black-families-wedlock

Excerpt below from theguardian.com

On Thursday at the White House, President Barack Obama unveiled a new initiative, created through executive order and partnering with businesses and foundations to spend $200m (maybe) over five years, “to help young men of color stay out of prison, stay out of jail”.

What an aspiration!

“This is an issue of national importance,” Obama said of his My Brother’s Keeper program, aimed at black and Hispanic men. “It’s as important as any issue that I work on.”

What a wonderful realization for the nation’s first black President to acknowledge! And with the parents of Trayvon Martin and Jordan Davis behind him, no less!

Sadly, the message to minorities – and blacks in particular – is that we blacks can’t be expected to take individual responsibility for our lives like our white counterparts ... so the government has to do it for us. Blacks should find Obama’s assumptions more than disturbing. Young black men wouldn’t be wrong to find My Brother’s Keeper downright offensive. And everyone should realize that the first black president is not holding blacks accountable to the same standards as whites when it comes to parenting.

Really? Obama has been very clear on the need for black fathers to be there for and take part in raising their children. He's been very critical of the disintegration of the black family. That's been a constant theme throughout his Presidency. That theme actually started when he was running for the office back in 2008. One would expect the folks at The Guardian to be better informed.

Exactly Big Dog!

If the OP actually listened to the speech he gave you would have heard him focus mainly on personal responsibility. Unsmiley I know you didn't even hear the speech, go look it up on youtube. He spends time being very candid and open about his life and the mistakes he made. You rarely ever hear Presidents do this. The whole point of his speech was to say that INSPITE of the difficult upbringing he had in a single parent household he became President through hard work and dedication.

Conservatives are full of it - especially the ones that call themselves Christians.

Every thing is a hack job if you cannot read it in Mother Jones

In this case it seems like a paid piece you can get published in a tabloid overseas. It would be akin to giving credit to any pieces published by The Enquirer.

Oh the irony. Here's Obama's brother George, who lives in the slums of Nairobi: Is Obama his brother's keeper? Apparently not. At least he's consistent ... in his hypocrisy.

I usually enjoy reading your posts coz you often present an eloquent thought with sincerity & integrity...except when you get charged up and start making comments = generalizations, stereotypes.....please don't be a bigot....& if you think I am behaving as 1....please call me on it & I will do my best to alter behavior (if you so care to do so - I'm not inferring you even notice me...I'm not like Teddy Bear - that dude thinks every1 on VJ is in love with him - I know - pretty "full" of himself but my point is...I am comfortable in my own skin and don't need to go around making bigoted - homophobic jokes to garner attention and prove I have a set...anyway).

& in the spirit of good will to my fellow man - I will go first = obviously other VJs are offended by my use of word association via labels / name calling when referring to our POTUS....fine...I will discontinue this behavior and refer to him by...his...real...na na name - Barrack Hussein O...O...Oba....Obama! There! Sheeeesh. I can't remember the last time I typed his name...it kinda hurt...may I please just use an acceptable acronym....like - BHO..or just - O? Would that be okay with you?

I'm not sure what you wrote has to do with what I said. If you have a problem with Teddy B why don't you take it to PM. I'm not impressed with anything you wrote.

I am a Christian and I believe from a policy standpoint most conservatives do not practice Christian values, but then again have they ever? I mean we are talking about people whose history is born out of slavery, lynchings, and exploitation all in the name of Jesus.

And how was life under a Republican? I lived through Reagan and both GWB junior and senior. I don't recall gold plated streets and money raining down from the skies in the black neighborhoods. I'm sorry that you've witnessed those things from black people. There are plenty of lazy folks of all races. I've had my run ins with white people that were rude, disrespectful, and out right monsters. But I hold them accountable for their own actions, not the entire race. There are plenty of hard working, intelligent, respectful black people in this world, you're talking to one. Janelle and Jinx also.

Democrats or Republicans, it doesn't matter. At the end of the day, it's up to you to make it happen.

How was life under Republicans? You ask. Better than 25% unemployment thats for sure.

Republicans have nothing to do with it. Democrats do. It is their plantation. They own it. 99.9% of blacks vote Democrat.

Aside from a small few Star conservative blacks that are melined and called uncle tom. the Democrats own you and it is your choice, Not mine.

See Ben Carson, Mia Love, Francesca Chambers, Allen West for blacks that have left the plantation and figured it out.

I didn't ask you to be impressed. blink.png IME - People "full" of themselves are typically presumptive by nature. Funny how ez to see the flaw in some1 else....Go figure....but btt = I asked you to not be a bigot...adding the word "most" to your statement makes it acceptable. I think your quantifier is open for debate but certainly you are entitled as any1 else to maintain a reasonably ranged POV..right or wrong...& that does not qualify you a bigot.

Thanks for modifying your previous...myopic ...comment. star_smile.gif

& oh...thanks for the advise but Teddy Bear and I don't PM....He likes to dance out in the open...due to the whole "look at me!" thing he has going on.....wacko.png

Oh well, like Pooky said, I can only try to reach folks who want to learn past their hate. Guess you're too far gone to have an actual conversation since you threw Islam in there when it wasn't even the topic of conversation. But, if you want to debate it, how about you pick an article from that website, post it here. Since I'm a neophyte in Islam(38 years Christian) I'll ask some of the other muslims to weigh in on it. You might learn something.

I hope you don't get banned, I would love to try and help you see past your bigotry.

“Hate is too great a burden to bear. It injures the hater more than it injures the hated.” – Coretta Scott King

"Oppressive language does more than represent violence; it is violence; does more than represent the limits of knowledge; it limits knowledge." -Toni Morrison

He who passively accepts evil is as much involved in it as he who helps to perpetrate it.
