Will the Anchorage Field Office of the USCIS do an N-400 interview and a naturalization (oath) ceremony on the same day?

We live in a remote part of Alaska and it is difficult and expensive for us to travel to Anchorage. In the past, the Anchorage Field Office has allowed walk-in biometrics as a courtesy to residents of rural (bush) Alaska. Thanks to their courtesy and efficiency, my wife has done walk-in biometrics twice which has saved us thousands of dollars in travel costs.

The USCIS website (see link) says that "You may be able to participate in a naturalization ceremony on the same day as your interview." http://www.uscis.gov/us-citizenship/naturalization-ceremonies

Has anybody had experience with same day interview and oath, particularly in Anchorage?

Please see the link below; Anchorage does not do same-day naturalization ceremonies. I suggest that when you get your interview scheduled, you should call and find out when the next ceremony is and if it's within a few days of your interview, plan to spend a few extra days in Anchorage just in case they schedule you for it. I think that because of where you live, there's a good chance they will try to accommodate you. If you call and find out that the next ceremony is weeks away (for example if your interview is on April 4th and the next ceremony is on April 25th) then maybe you should consider rescheduling your interview. When you do this, you need to send in a letter of explanation and you can use that letter to request an interview that is closer to an oath ceremony. This will cause a delay of a month or two, but in your case, it may be the best thing (for example, they may reschedule you for June 20th when the next ceremony is June 23rd so you can do it all in one trip). Best of luck!

Of course, the information on the link is the office's general policy, but I have read about special (very rare) cases where the office will arrange for a quick "personal" ceremony for 1 or 2 people who have very special circumstances. I wouldn't get my hopes up about this if I were you, but it wouldn't hurt to ask. Having lived in Alaska, I understand what "remote" really means! :-)
