If your son has his U.S. passport there are no issues with traveling. The Philippines will want to charge an exit fee but that is another story and the fee is about Php 810, you can get an exemption for this

my son has both philippine passport and us passport do you mean we will get also exit clearance from the bureau of immigration. i dont understand what clearance they need to get from the us embassy. i was in the understanding that if a person holds both philippine and us passport you dont need to get an exit clearance from the bureau of immigration cause i already called up the bureau of immigration about this.

You don't need anything from the US embassy for your son. He is good to go.

your son had both passports, that does make things easier.

... I worked in Bangkok at the time...and me and my now wife traveled between MNL-BKK 3 times without CFO after she received here K-1 and when we finally traveled to the US, we did depart out of Bangkok...she has a rather thick passport with lots of stamps ... maybe they did not notice her K-1 visa????... what you say actually makes sense so who knows.

Serious? Your fiancee left the Philippines with her visa and no CFO, flew to (your example) Thailand, then had another separate flight to the USA?

CRBA is consulate report of birth abroad, this is how the baby acquires the U.S. passport, unless not born aboard wink.png

Well that sort of explains the "how". I know of others that made it to the airport and got turned away for not having the CFO sticker, one was at CFO with my wife after being denied exit a couple hours earlier.

I am not saying we did not have the CRBA with us but what am saying that no immigration officer asked for it at either port of exit or entry.

CRBA is only a process to establish citizenship has nothing to do with travel, when traveling a passport is what is required.

So sorry to hear that news.. Yes the CFO Seminar is a requirement. They will not allow you to travel without the sticker from the CFO.

It is heartbreaking to hear that. Please keep us informed of new developments. I am sure that once that gets resolved you two will be together.. Hang in there. GOOD LUCK !!!

Yes an ECC is required if the child does not possess a Philippine passport. But the reference to foreigners staying 6 months or more isn't correct, it is the fact that the child was born in the Philippines and is a foreigner, see item 3.

And there are exemptions available to this being the mother is a Philippine citizen, sadly,some of the Philippine government websites were hacked and they have not been restored to access some of this info.

http://immigration.gov.ph/index.php/faqs/emigration-clearance-certificate-ecc

  1. Who should apply for an Emigration Clearance Certificate?

The following are required to apply for a Emigration Clearance

Certificate (ECC) prior to departure from the Philippines:

  1. ACR I-Card holders;

  2. Temporary visitors who have stayed for more than six (6) in the Philippines;

  3. Foreigners born in the Philippines who will be traveling out of the country for the first time;

  4. ACR I-Card holders leaving the country for good.
