My family filed I-751 last May. and got 1 year extension letter which expires 1 year from May 13th 2013 and ROC is still pending. What should we do once the extension is over? I read that I should get an I-551 stamp in local USCIS office. How long is the stamp valid for?

My mother currently has a job in S. Korea (she has re-entry permit that expires 05/13/2014). She is coming back to US in May but she needs to go back to Korea for her work. she can't take much time off from her work on may/june so she is planning on coming back to US before reentry permit expires and stay in the US for a week or two and then come back to US for ROC process.

But I'm afraid that ROC might take much longer and/or I-551 stamp is not valid for long enough for her to travel back to Korea and Come back to US.

Is there something else we can do other than I-551 stamp?

If I-551 Stamp is the only way, how long is the stamp valid for in this case usually?

and did anybody(who filed ROC around the same time as I did) hear back from USCIS about their ROC ?

Thank you!
