my wife just received her SSN card last week, can we file taxes ASAP or is there a lag for the IRS systems to update to reflect her number?

No lag, the number is the number.

just called the IRS and they hinted they have her name wrong.

but wouldn't tell me how they have it on their records!!

" sir when efiling your return if you put her first name and two last names and if the IRS gives you a kick back please try again using a different combination and maybe using her first last name as her middle."

thanks IRS!
