I called the AMPAS and they said they do not understand why you state the movie won because of white guilty and then deferred the explanation to them. It might behoove you to qualify your statement.

The film was not good. It was too long, and the ending was too quick- it came and went in a snap. The music was poorly timed. Brad Pitt is the only reason it was made. Fassbender was the only redeeming part in terms of actual acting.

White guilt gave it the win because we all still feel bad about slavery; we don't care about quality.

I'd totally give your White guilt claim credit if there was any stock to it, but it's utter nonsense.

American Hustle was a slightly longer film. What both films do have in common is the length that is given to the character development. You complain that the movie was too long but then it ended too quick?

I think passing such a great film over by saying it is "White" guilt does this movie a disservice imo. Rotten Tomatoes gave this movie a 96% rating which is ridiculously high. There were virtually no negative reviews and most of the negative comments I have heard actually came from some Black people who were like omg not another slave movie (like there really has been that many).

Big kudos to Brad Pitt for helping to produce this movie - most studios didn't want to touch it. Sometimes there are movies that come along that really touch the human spirit, this was one of them. I don't see how you can see the acting by Nyong'o and say this movie was not that good.

Hell Fassbender was so good, I got the chills in some of his scenes. He almost made me jump out of my chair and go pick some cotton.

But 6,000 people voting mostly because of White guilt? Kinda nonsense and does a discredit to peoples intelligence.
