  1. 1. Military power still matters, despite what the la-la-land liberals in the Obama administration say.

  2. 2. The US, acting through NATO, should put boots on the ground and ensure the liberty of the non-Russian parts of Ukraine.

Sanctions are meaningless against one of the worlds largest producers of oil and gas.

If the "G7" wanted to make times harder for Russia, they could. But they're pu$$ies.

The belief is that freezing assets, investments, and trade agreements will send the Ruble into a steeper dive than it already is. Now, will they survive this? Of course. Seems a little aggressive though. The real question is the current situation and proposed sanctions by the west, worth enduring to gain the Crimean peninsula and some major political and swagger.

This will only be temporary as Russia will know. If they hold out long enough, they will have to be welcomed back into the international community.

We need decisive strong economic implications for Russia. Something the US and EU can do together.

That is exactly what is required. Quite immediately, the G8 out to be known as the G7. The Russian economy is already taking a good hit and that should continue. Isolation is what needs to happen. Immediately.

Yeah I am sure Germany will want that.

I go with George Orwell's 1984 on this one: War is a way to consume natural resources without creating anything useful.

The essential act of war is destruction, not necessarily of human lives, but of the products of human labour. War is a way of shattering to pieces, or pouring into the stratosphere, or sinking in the depths of the sea, materials which might otherwise be used to make the masses too comfortable, and hence, in the long run, too intelligent.
