Putin's war, not Obama's

The article is correct. Nothing Obama did or didn't do would have stopped Russia in Crimea.

Russia already see's the west as active players in the destabilization of Ukraine. The events set in place when that happened can not be altered by rhetoric. As Kiev was burning, the roads into Crimea were being blocked. The main fiber optic communication line was cut. The events in Kiev were well orchestrated. So are the events in Crimea.

Russia didn't decide to get involved on Feb 21st 2014. They have wanted this since 1991. They have been thinking about it since 1954. Anyone who doesn't know what those dates mean to Russia and Crimea is missing the boat here. Every time the lease comes up on the Sevastopol base, people thought about war. Everyone knows Russia would never give it up.

There's a reason Russia didn't get involved in November. There's a reason they didn't interfere in Kiev and they didn't do anything to keep Yanukovich in power. They may look like the bad guy around the world, but they are heroes to people in the south and east Ukraine now. They will get what they wanted and they might even do it without firing a single shot.

So, in a nutshell, Sarah was wrong.

Wow. How astute. Blame the division on the tea party. Do you have a political science degree from the Evelyn Wood school of Politics?

Alas, I am not blaming anything on anyone. I am simply pointing out where the rift is in this country and who created it.

I'm always hesitant to comment on her, only because I've never been able to listen to her for more than a second or two without changing the channel. I've only seen the statement as it was posted here in the other topic. I assume there was a context to her statement (ie. Russia would intervene in Ukraine if Obama was elected but not if McCain was) in which case I would disagree with what she said.

I realize she frequently makes statements without any context at all, and if that's the case here, It's very hard to comment.

This was one such case. Another one of her asinine utterances....

Sarah Palin should humble herself and go on tour immediately to apologize for predicting what Russia would do under obama's watch.

I give up, seriously if the nut jobs on VJ and elsewhere in the US want to believe that this is only happening because Obama is head of state, so be it. You can't fix stupid. Look at Palin - on second thoughts, let's not.

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

No you miss the point. People are mad because they obviously want us to start WW3 by attacking Russia.

Explain to me the fact that in Russian history there are no attempts to invade neighboring nations until The Kenyan became President of the United States.

Of course, whether or not the US is a superpower depends on whether the head of state is the Kenyan or not. Got it.

That's also ironic considering most people who think ti's all Obama's fault because he is weak also think that the US should stop spending money on military campaigns and return the troops home so tax bills can be lower. They don't think that the US should be the world's policeman any more. Someone else should step up and take the plate, apparently.

They would like to see Putin be worldcop instead.

So it would seem. I guess they like the idea of being marched on by Putin jackboots - every right wing American's wet dream I guess?
