Is I-129 F Ref., needed at AOS interview.

Hello;

They have listed for the AOS interview what you need to bring, and the I-129 F isn't on the list. My question is, do they need you, at this point

to bring a copy of the 1-129F, for reference. I have a copy, but it's probably 85 pages, & it's my only copy. I would rather not

get another copy, but don't want to bring anything that they might keep if it's my last copy. We have the interview 3-6-14, in Detroit mi.

Although we did bring our copy of our 60-page I-129F packet along to our AOS interview, no documents regarding the I-129F were requested. I suspect it's not needed -- the officer in our case asked a lot of verbal questions about our relationship DURING and BEFORE the K-1 visa was issued, and definitely wanted to know about the beginnings of our relationship and how we stayed in contact, and what we did before getting the visa, but she didn't ask for any sort of documentation from that time period. I had played it safe and brought along our copy, but it never left my bag -- it was just discussion questions to both me and my husband about our relationship and development.

She did however want to see a lot of more recent documentation, as described in the AOS interview letter/checklist. She wanted copies of our bank statements, utility bills, legal documents, and photos, and for each one of those she requested to see the original, then marked/initialed the copy that she kept as valid. So definitely bring plenty of recent documentation, but really for all intents and purposes, the K-1 visa in your/your spouse's passport is proof of the validity of the I-129F. I suppose in very tenuous/suspicious cases they might request something, but even then you'd have an RFE given at the interview if you didn't have it with you.
