Am I a US National?

Hi guys.

Im sorry I have a really dumb question.

I am filling out a job application and it asked me this question:

"Are you a national of the United States?"

I really don't know what a US National mean. I googled it but it just confused me even more.

I do have a green card. I am a permanent resident and I moved to the US in 2012. I was born in the Philippines. My birthday is January 1991. I am 23 years old now.

With all that information, am I or am I not a US National? My citizenship is still Filipino though.

It confused me because online, I read something about the Philippines being under the US and Filipinos may be US Nationals because of it. I am not sure. Please enlighten me if you know the answer.

This is the first time I encountered this question and I dont want to submit my job application with incorrect answers.

As stated, you are NOT a US National (this is a rare category). You are a US Legal Permanent Resident.
