Hello,

I'm a Chinese citizen and want to apply for a green card through marriage. I have already prepared all the document and plan to mail them on Monday, but have some question with the name question.

I want to take my husband's last name, and also change my first name to my English name. I plan to change my names on passport, SSN and bank etc later.

I heard if I have the green card, then I can go to Chinese embassy to add the new names to my passport. And it will be easy.

I am also applying for work authorization, so how should I do it? Should I include the intent of changing to the new name on the cover letter, or in every form and put my current name in "other name used" (but I haven't officially changed my name yet)?

Or should I inform them during the interview process, or change it after I receive the green card?

Thanks a lot for your help,

Blair
