I wasn't there. I probably would have gone only if there were strong indications that my being there would be a decisive factor in determining the outcome of the interview. I wouldn't have gone just for moral support, that's silly. I married a grownup.

Ditto for me too. Same reasons I didn't go. And it caused us no problems with getting the K-1/K-2 visas.

Not to mention...I only get one vacation a year from work. I felt it was far better to take it when my wife and stepdaughter arrived here in the USA.

It worked out best for us in that way.

"Credibility in immigration policy can be summed up in one sentence: Those who should get in, get in; those who should be kept out, are kept out; and those who should not be here will be required to leave."

"...for the system to be credible, people actually have to be deported at the end of the process."

US Congresswoman Barbara Jordan (D-TX)

Testimony to the House Immigration Subcommittee, February 24, 1995

needing or wanting moral support = not being grown-up :huh:

Needing or wanting moral support to the point where one partner makes the other feel the need to take a week or two off, spend 1-2 thousand dollars, just to stand outside the Consulate while she interviews within... not being a grown up.

For those who live on the Canadian border and just had to drive down for a day... not applicable. For those who had to go because consular posts like Lima love handing out rejections for non-present fiances... not applicable.

Man is made by his belief. As he believes, so he is.

I agree but needing or wanting moral support does not make one any less grown-up...

that is what it sounded like you were saying in your OP.... that needing or wanting moral support means you are not a grown-up.....

I managed to get enough frequent flyer miles together (mine and my moms) to go to the interview. That should be good because all my I-134 stuff got lost in the mail and there's really little time to get it down there via mail now.

Never even thought about being accompanied.

As far as I could tell on the day of my interview there was only one who was accompanied, I think they were married. There were 8? K1's and none of us were.

Ahhh, vacation days - that is often a problem. I have enough to stay for 2 weeks (I've been saving them). Also, I'm a teacher and the last week of March is Spring Break so if our interview is before that (hopefully!!) then we can use the week to do our running around.

We sent packet 3 out today so I'm super excited and anxiously awaiting my interview date!!

* In Rio they allow the USC to be go in the room with their fiance

My plan for now is to be there with him and stay some time afterwards while he is waiting for his permission to leave from the Cuban government. I know it seems impractical but it will have been over a year and a half and honestly not sure how often we will be able to go back and visit his family with the US-Cuban relations as they are now. Our plans are to enjoy our time together, see the country together, spend time with his family and maybe even a pre wedding party since they will unfortunately not be able to attend the wedding. In the end it will all work out even with me having to quit my job... fortunately will have a co-sponsor for the affidavit.

03/16/03: Met the love of my life

01/24/06: Officially began our relationship

11/01/06: He proposed marriage :)

03/08/07: Received hard copy NOA2

03/13/07: NVC sent packet to La Habana

04/02/07: I contacted the "embassy" to find out status of case and set up pick up date

04/04/07: Fiance picked up packet 3

04/05/07: I called toll-free # here to set up appointment for my fiancé
