It's expensive yes, but to me it's worth the money. I'll be there.

I'm sure it's worth it if you don't need the money to pay your rent!

I wasn't there. I probably would have gone only if there were strong indications that my being there would be a decisive factor in determining the outcome of the interview. I wouldn't have gone just for moral support, that's silly. I married a grownup.

Even grown-ups get nervous! Depends on the consulate too. In Rio consulate, the story is that your interview will be fast and have no grilling if you're both there. It's supposed to be like 5 seconds long barring any I-134 trouble.

My fiance will be going with me during my visa interview on Feb 23, 2007. And also one of the reason why he will be here is to pick me up once I have the visa already.

I felt that I would show my fiance that I am not a chicken and wouldn't waste money for him to travel here for the interview.

It gaves me selfconfidence that I could go through this

And after what they told me the decision is not different if the fiance is there or not.

Of course we're marrying grown-ups and my fiance has no problem going alone - we discussed this and he is fine with it. I just decided a long time ago that I wanted to go with him - be with him during his trip to Rio (medical exam/interview).

Anyway, who doesn't want to be with their fiance in Rio de Janeiro for a week? It's like a pre-honeymoon :luv:

Also, my fiance does not speak English nor has ever travelled abroad and I want to be there with him during his trip, as well as be his translator.

You know that he can speak Portuguese during the interview, right?

Of course, but the POE and everything...

It's not necessary for us but we both feel better knowing we'll be together for the interview. I had the I-134 notarized today and last Friday my boss gave me the employment letter but now I know that if anything is missing, signatures, etc. I'll be there to do it at that moment.

Also, I don't have to worry about sending any of my important documents through the mail because I'll just take them with me.

But the main reason I'm going is to be with him during his interview.

He went alone. Too expensive for me to go and anyway I don't think our embassy even let in anyone with the interviewees.

I told my fiancee that I could be there for her interview or I could be there to travel back with her when she enters. She chose for me to travel with her......

YMMV

My fiance' will be doing his interview alone. This is 'crunch time' where I work for my department (end of payroll year and such) and a lot of things need to be done in the next few months. I might be able to take a day or two, but enough for another trip out there would be impossible. That, and I need to save vacation days for our wedding and all the running-around information gathering stuff that will come later.

Our K-1 Visa/AOS/RoC timeline can be found here.

I was in Morocco but not allowed to enter the Consulate with him. I felt that my presence would be somewhat of a deciding factor in our case so I felt compelled to go. I stood outside for almost 4 hours waiting waiting waiting for the good news.
