Yes My wife Lorna is in Cebu and when she is able to connect and we start talking/typing, something happens and all of a sudden she doesn't respond.... I say "hey are you there?" then nothing... then she will type..."hey where are you?" Then after a few minutes it will start working again....

In fact our communication got so bad I was getting mad thinking she was playing some game or something. Then we figured out that we were having Yahoo problems and now everything is fine between us.

But man! it caused us to get weird at each other for a while,hehehe.

So if you can't get on right now, maybe that's a good thing.

Can't reach her on her cell phone either, but we can text message each other.

but my fiance up to now cant contact me in my cellphone which is Globe simcard. I dont know in Smart Simcard. He only heard a busy tone.

does anyone from US, can contact their loved ones here in PI who are using Globe and Smart?

Hi, i'm from Davao and my YM is ok, we talked everyday on voice chat, reception is ok but we don't use cam coz mine is deffective even before the earthquake.

with regards to calling by cellphone, he can't contact me after the earthquare not until the 2nd of jan but if i'll call him i can hehe it makes him hehe, he can call me now tho there is a time that it is wierd coz the country code of his cellphone is china hehehe and i call him after he calls me he is in usa and he calls me again his number now is the one that appeard and the noise is the same hehe and like garya his text messages were also delayed.

Yazi uses Globe. I have four different sevices for calling her cell. since the Taiwan earthquake the only one that was been reliable is Sarimanok One. the others have been sporatic, usually poor quality or busy signal.

I have seen friends still in PI on line and chatted briefly with one of them. Not sure the problem is universal in PI, and was in fact not aware there was a problem... Not sure what J and I would do without yahoo! Hope the trouble gets resolved soon for you guys.

Sarimanok One is like 23cents/minute to a Phil mobile.

I have been able to get through using my

most of the time, at 16.8cents/minute flat rate (no extra charges) and the connection is good.

Even my Verizon Intl LD is 21 cents/minute to a mobile, and the connection is excellent.

as for me using dial-up at home, it sucks! sometimes it wont login at all and if it does, its like 2-3mins delayed for each msg's to arrive... my SMART phone isnt a help knowing 12 hrs delayed when he text and believe it or not sometimes even 2 days late!!! lol... i run to some cafe sometimes. no choice have to talk to my babe. lol

Lina and I have started using Skype for voice/webcam instead of Yahoo IM because her connection is so poor. She bounces off/online all day long. If we do text chat in Yahoo IM the messages are delayed sometimes for a minute or two. After switching to Skype I actually prefer it. We both agree that the webcam is better and the audio is more clear.

Lina has a PLDT land line and DSL connection. The land line is pretty bad. She said the connection is bad even for local calls. When she calls me she has a lot of trouble hearing me but I can hear her fine. I can call her cell phone (I think it's Globe but not sure) and the connection is pretty good. I should mention that when I call her cell it's a good 30 seconds before it begins to ring. Her internet connection is hit or miss. She said sometimes VisaJourney will work normal at one time then take several minutes to load a single page at other times. Same with her connecting to her Yahoo Email.

I don't have a link but I stumbled across an article saying the fiber cables that were damaged should be repaired by the end of the month. Hopefully that's the case.

That's about 5 cents/minute if you are really getting 40 minutes. What phone card does she get, and where does she get it?
