Hello,

I am new to the site ( its really cool by the way) and have one big question. I meet my Fiancee when Lance was winning his 6th Tour and we are now engaged. We are not sure if we will get married here or in France yet. One of the things I want to know is if WE apply for the K1 can she come and visit me when:

1) the application is still in processing

2) after it has been sent to the consulate in Paris

She is going to be in my sisters wedding in July and if she does not get the visa in time I need to Know if she can come over to visit me before she has her interview?

Thanks

Chris

if you check with immigration websites, it says she can indeed still travel, but they can turn her down at the POE at their own discretion. Best advice to give in this case is for her to bring tons of info stating she still has numerous ties in her homecountry and will therefore only be visiting, with no intention to marry at this stage.

Proof examples are;

- lease agreement

- bank statement

- savingsaccount

- credit card bills

- ...

We started our application in July and received our NOA1's fairly quickly. I traveled to the US in August for 3 weeks and at the POE I was totally prepared for any questions and had a huge file with me with like bills and savingsstatement, letter from my employer saying i was due back in 3.5 weeks, etc etc. I was lucky however, and went through like a breeze, no questions asked, but key is always 'be prepared for anything'

and erm.... good luck with the process :)

Ditto on the reply above. Nigel came to visit me just a few weeks ago and didn't have any problems at all coming through immigration. He brought all his supporting documents just in case but didn't even need to pull them out because the officer just asked the usual questions. It seems we are taking a chance each time our fiances come to visit us but I've heard more positive experiences than negative from the forum.
