QueenComley please if I don't go that far with this question, why did you hire a lawyer to file your application for GC?

I am thinking of doing that by myself because a lawyer here in New York will cost around $1500 and even up (without the application fees and other related fees) for just filling up application.

What was your motivations and what do you suggest me?

Thank you.

Hi Ben10

We hired an Immigration Attorney because even though my Husband has been in America for 22 years he was in fact a Green Card holder. We hired an attorney to help my husband gain his citizenship so that we could then be together in a much quicker time frame. Once he had successfully become an American Citizen we got married and filed AOS.

Yes, its a lot of money, but it was also peace of mind. This whole process is mind boggling. I had someone who is massively successful as an Immigration Attorney, he is fantastic at what he does, and is there to ease my worries and stress. I had no RFE's, no blips or problems in the process and from the day he filed my application to the day my green-card was approved was 88 days.

I think, if you are a natural worrier, find the visa process stressful etc... An immigration Attorney is the way to go. However, you must find a reputable lawyer who you can trust and will work hard for you. I have read a lot of stories on VJ where people have had a nightmare with Immigration Attorneys. We were just very lucky with ours. He was with us every step of the way. I will also get him to do my Removal of Conditions when the time comes.

Yeah you're right. Unfortunately I am not in your State, otherwise I would hire your lawyer for my process.
