I'll call it what it is, stupid double standard. What's worse is some black people try to defend using it, like passionately. I've lost my temper at work because some black dude came in my office and used it. Then had the nerve to try and say I'm being uppity because I use proper english. That wasn't a good day at all.

Yep, that's why I went off on him. Hopefully, I don't get reported for racismcray5ol.gif

I hope it does. Maybe these dudes will stop talking like that. It's stupid that they force other not to say a word that they use ourselves that does nothing but showcase one's ignorance.

I would have rather taken the 15 yard penalty than the hard lesson Jinx gave me.

I've never been called ignorant so fervently.

Thanks for bringing it up BTW!

Or did some one drop the "U" word after I did?

So you posted this to bait me? Reporteddevil.gif

Honestly, I think most black people say this because it's like having the freedom to do what we want, but just because we can, doesn't mean we should.

Words can have power and the n-word was used mostly by southern whites after the Civil War towards southern blacks to 'let them know their place.' It was black comedians like Richard Pryor, who took the power away by using it. The same thing with black men being called, 'boy.' It was southern jazz musicians who would call each other, 'man' as a way to counter it. That said, I think the use and intention of the word has evolved. Intent and context are far more important to how words are received than their historical use or meaning.

This is a case of false equivalence. A large majority of Native American people have no problem with the name of Washington's football team. It is just a vocal minority and a host of outsiders making noise.

Very different to the "n" word.

I don't think that it is all that different. The word has very little of the old meaning that it once had. The "n" word that is. Just like " redskins" was once a pretty nasty slur, but today not so much.

Now the "n" word is slang and as often as not used more as a term of endearment than an insult.
