China mass stabbing: Deadly knife attack in Kunming

An attack by knife-wielding men at a railway station in Kunming in south-west China has left at least 29 dead, the state news agency Xinhua says.

Another 130 people were wounded in what authorities said was a "premeditated, violent terrorist attack".

Four suspects were shot dead, one arrested and other are being sought Xinhua said.

City officials said evidence implicated militants from the western region of Xinjiang, but this was not verified.

I was in Yunnan province just a few months ago, not far from Kunming. Kunming is a popular tourist spot. You see a lot of the muslim people in that region as they are not hard to mistake as most don't look Chinese, and most of the women are covered, and men have their muslim hats. It's a sickening trend all over the world for radical and intolerant muslims to cause terror. They don't want to share this world.

Actually Muslims have been in China for over 1400 years and the Uyghurs date back somewhere around the 7th century.

10 of the recognized ethnic minorities in China are Muslim. The Hui are the largest group followed by the Uyghur. Hui people look more similar to Han Chinese but the Uyghurs certainly don't.

Uyghurs however seem to be the group that undertake these terrorist acts like the Urumqi bus bombings and the attacks in Kashgar and Hotan.

This was a terrorist attack, by multiple assailants. The motivations are entirely different to the mass shooting incidents in the US.

The mantra of the anti-gun crowd is if you do away with guns there will be a safer world for all. No guns No killings. Evil does exist everywhere. Today you blame Muslims with knives,. In Boston it was more Muslims with pressure cookers..... You do not blame knives or pressure cookers. (Terrorist) But in a school shooting the evil gun is the cause ... The cause for gun laws being passed in Conn. and NY.The laws that restrict certain types of gun ownership. Very little blame is on the evil person that caused the carnage. (often with bombs at their disposable. . What is a terrorist act or mass murder... they are the same. To install fear where ever it is committed.In the end to pass more and more restrictive laws that take away more rights..

People kill people with knives. People kill people with baseball bats. People kill people with any number of objects.

But in this country, guess what people kill people with the most.

When was the last time there was a mass stabbing in this country? How many people did they kill?

Knives can be used to kill people as well, as this case shows. However, there is a greater cost to doing so with knives, as this case also shows. How many attackers were there? How many were killed and injured? How many similar attackers, armed with guns instead of knives, would it have taken to do the same amount of damage in the same amount of time? Fewer, much fewer.

There is an argument to be made that gun control increases the cost of doing damage, making it less likely that the less motivated will go on killing sprees. It does relatively little to dissuade dedicated terrorists with a political agenda or committed cartel/gang members for whom violence is about profit or death.

In the end, everything on this forum has to do with Obama, race, or gun control.

Sometimes, if you try really hard, you can make it about all 3 and the thread will explode.
