Hi everyone,

We receive the hard copy of the I-797 from the USCIS. It says that our petition was approved and that the original visa petition was submitted to the NVC. It doesn;t say anything of us paying the AOS fee. It just says they will contact the beneficiary concerning further immigrant processing step.

Them contacting our minor son also worries us especially that there is no reliable communication there yet because of the typhoon and I am no sure how reliable are the postal deliveries there as of this time. Is there a way for the NVc too to keep us on the loop. Like let us know what was sent to our minor son?

Also, when do we really have to pay the AOS fee?

thank you everyone!

It says in the letter that they will contact the beneficiary. Will they keep us still on the loop ( petitioner)? What I meant to ask is, will they notify us whatever correspondence they sent to the beneficiary? I am just worried coz after yolanda hit our place, we still haven't got our phone lines back and their cellphone signal there is not totally reliable yet. Not sure about how the postal service is too.

Hi, you should read and study the first 2 posts of this thread: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/483206-nvc-filers-march-2014/

Once nvc receives the case, you should call them, ask for the case number, and give out your email address. This may take a while though as nvc is pretty backlogged as of now. Also, since your son lives in a typhoon hit area, you can request for an expedite.

How will we know NVC receive the case? Sorry to be asking a lot, I just want clarity on the process. And I should wait for the Visa petition to be received by the NVC before contacting them, right? And that will be the time to request to have it expedited?

Thank you for the patience and for further help.

Yep, you have to wait til it gets to the nvc. And the best way to know is to call them a week after your i-130 approval. Try to call everyday or every other day and check for updates

will they give me updates if I call them since the petitioner was my husband?

Hi, I am also calling the NVC to get my case#. I am the petitioner but coming to think of it, they never asked me if I was the beneficiary. So, I believe you may call to find out if NVC received your case (all you need is your 797 receipt number) but I your husband should still handle the next steps. The overview of the process will be as follows (this is taken from Saylin's posts 1 & 2 at http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/483206-nvc-filers-march-2014/ ):

- Call NVC to find out if they received your case

- get case number and IIN, give email addresses over

- complete the online DS-261

- pay the AOS bill, once it's invoiced

- once the bill appears as PAID, send the AOS package

- pay the IV bill, once it's invoiced

- once the bill appears as PAID, send the IV package

- complete the online DS-260

- respond to any checklists, if applicable

- get case complete

- get interview date scheduled

- case is sent to embassy/consulate

And like Krispykreme said, go to that post link and you and your husband study (hard) the first two posts. Trust us, the majority of your questions would already be answered in those two posts.

Also, to answer your original question. If you notice in posts 1& 2 of the link we gave you, one of the first steps at NVC is to give them your email address (only after they assign a case#) and choose an agent (online form 261). Your husband may designate himself as the agent and be able to get all communications regarding your child's case.

Good Luck!

Hey what is the fee for 797 1-30 form visa

You should really start your own thread, but the fee is $420 to file an I-130 petition.

ROC from CR-1 visa (Green Card expiration date was Nov 24th 2016)

Link to the evidence I submitted. Be sure to send evidence spanning your entire marriage (especially for K-1) or as far back as you can. Just one or two bank statements will not cut it. I primarily focused on the two years of living here since I came in on a CR-1. If you don't have the fundamentals (i.e. joint accounts/policies), you can explain why in the covering letter. E.g. "While we do not have joint utilities, we both contribute to them from our joint bank account".

September 26th 2016: I-751 package sent to CSC

September 28th 2016: Package delivered
September 30th 2016: Check cashed
October 3rd 2016: NOA1 received with receipt date of 09/28/16
November 3rd 2016: Biometrics received with appointment date of 11/14/16.
November 14th 2016: Attended biometrics appointment
October 30th 2017: Infopass appointment to get I-551 stamp
February 26th 2018: I-751 case number (aka the NOA1 receipt number) becomes trackable
March 14th 2018: Submitted service request due to being outside of processing time.

March 15th 2018: ROC approved. 535 days (1 year, 5 months and 17 days)

March 29th 2018: Card being produced

April 4th 2018: Card mailed out

April 6th 2018: Card in hand. Has incorrect "resident since" date. Submitted service request on I-751 case (typographical error on permanent resident card) and an I-90 online.

April 2018 - August 7th 2018: Tons of service requests, emails and now senator involvement to get my corrected green card back because what the heck, USCIS. Also some time in May I sent a letter to Potomac telling them I want to withdraw my I-90 since CSC were handling it.

August 8th 2018: Card in production thanks to the direct involvement of Senator Sherrod Brown's team

August 13th 2018: Card mailed

August 15th 2018: Card in hand with correct date. :joy:

October 31st 2018: Potomac sends out a notice stating they have closed out my I-90 per my request. Yay for no duplicate card drama.
