random question, does CSC/VSC work approving cases MON-FRI 9AM/5PM ???

That's my understanding, though I suppose there might be some flex when people come into work. If what you are asking is do the people that do the approvals work a 37.5 hour work week, yes. And under normal circumstances, the same person will work your case from application to decision unless the case gets transferred to another center, you are interviewed (they typically aren't at the regional center assigned to do your interview) or the person leaves the position. That is my understanding, in any case.

but I could be wrong. This is what my lawyer told me but I confess to not knowing what happens at places that are seriously backed up, like the VSC, or what happens to cases that are complicated.

Hello All,

First congrats to the new approvals, especially the VSC, it's time to get a move on. I just wanted to report my wife came back from the D.R yesterday and because her green card expired while she was gone she had to have the letter for her and her daughter, who's card also expired. At the airport in Santiago, no issues they made copies of the letters twice, at check-in and going through immigration. When we arrived in the States, we have global entry but because their cards expired we had to go to one of the booths. There's two placed there to help out issues. However, the person we got (name on tag was Bennett) was about the most rude TSA worker I've ever encountered. He didn't want to be there and it showed. Everyone else was so helpful until we got to him. When we walked up to him he huffed and started saying "You may have Global entry but that doesn't mean you can bring your family through." I stopped him and said, "Whoa man, My whole family has Global entry." I showed him our ID's and he said, "then why are you here." I said because my wife and Daughter's green card expired. He looked at the cards and their passport. Since he wasn't going to ask, I said, "We have the letters of extension." and held them out. He tooked them from me and put them on the counter. He kept going back to the cards then letter, cards then letter. He huffed some more and put our passports and the cards and the letters together and said, "You have to come with me." I said, "Why?" he said, Just come with me. He said walk straight ahead( Now mind you, I'm not alone, I'm with my 2 year old, 10 year old and wife. Had I been alone we would've had some issues but I don't like making a scene with my family with me.) and we did and then yelled "Left!" I felt like I was back in the Navy. We walked into Passport control and he told us to have a seat and gave our information to an officer sitting at a desk, then walked out. The first thing the officer looked at was the letters and said to another officer with him, "What is he doing, they got letters, why he do this?" I walked over to him and said, "I don't understand why we're here, I thought the letters were fine." He must have been shocked I heard him say it and said, "It's ok, I'll take care of it." It wasn't a helpful tone he used, but the trying not to throw his co-worker under the bus tone. Needless to say I was very pissed off at having to go through this. From landing to getting through customs took about 45 mins which was 40 mins to long. My take from this is, if you have the letter, normally it's not an issue but you may run into agent Bennett who doesn't want to do his job and doesn't care who he inconvience.

Hm. Got another notification from USCIS (e-mail and text) today saying my card is in production as of 8/27. I'm in Canada now, and my husband knows to FedEx it out to me if it comes in time, but it probably won't if it's ACTUALLY in production as of today. Woooo awesome hell yeah.

Haven't sent my RFE package in yet, will be this week though.

I'm going to be traveling back home at the end of August ... do you think they'll give me issues coming back into the US with my GC + one year extension letter? This is assuming by some miracle that my case gets approved and I get a new card by the 26th, haha.

If I explain that I got an RFE and I'm waiting for approval still, will they even understand?

Also, do you get any sort of NOA when they receive an RFE package? Something to prove that the case is being worked on/still active ?

I am from the February filers group but I check on this just thread as well because I am still waiting on my approval (I am with VSC).

I travelled to Canada with my expired green card and extension letter and had absolutely no issue coming back across. I haven't had an RFE or anything (still hoping not to get one!). I came back on August 17. It was actually the easiest, fastest border crossing into the USA of my life. Though, I did cross by land. I am sure that as long as you have your card and letter with you, you will be fine even with the RFE.

Updating my timeline. I got an RFE from VSC on Sunday. I did check my mail box on friday but not on saturday and then I got the letter in hand only on Sunday so I presume it's letter arrived Sadurday 30th even because we don't receive mails on Sunday. Now we are working on those requests. We will update it as soon as we send the documents.

Just to give you guys an info, in the letter they mentioned It will take a minimum of 14 days after they receive our submission but not later than 60 days. If we have not heard from USCIS within 60 days I should contact them.
