Hi,

I have a couple of questions. I have been given my interview date for March 12th! Veryyy excited but i have a few questions.

My application "ran out" on January 31st however my fiancé will be coming with me to the interview - do we still need to bring a notarized letter? (I have one but the wording is not great.)

Secondly- in the checklist given in the envelope with the interview date it says step one - ds230. However it doesn't say where to send it/email it, or whether to just bring it to the interview? I am very confused!

It's a very misleading document as I have already done most of the things on it (medical, submitted readiness form etc or i wouldn't have been given the interview!)

Also, will my fiancé actually be allowed to sit with me during the interview?

Thanks!

I take it you are applying for a K1 visa, saying you mention a fiance.

1. You will need a notarized letter of re-intent. Simple as. It was the third question they asked me, so why even risk it for the sake of 5 bucks.

2. If you are applying for a K1 you do are not required to submit a ds230. Only submit the Ds160, and readiness form, which I presume you have already done if you have your interview. I agree it is horribly written, I asked the very same question about 3 or 4 months ago.

3. Your fiance can sit with you (but not at the interview, you dont actually sit for the interview, it is just a big hall with about 20 glass-screened counters), when you pay your MRV, there is a part of the fill-in sheet which asks if anyone is accompanying you. If you find that this is no longer the case (although it was when I filled in the MRV on Tuesday), then there are plenty of places she can stay at while she waits for you nearby. I think there is a Costa Coffee shop like a 3 minute walk away. You can bring your phone in with you now, so if needs be, she/he can walk up and down oxford street, and meet you when your done :)

K1 AOS:

May 22nd: Sent away AOS package Day 1

May 27th: Notification via text/email confirming receiving package. Day 5

May 29th: NOA's recieved on 29th May Day 7

June 2nd: Biometrics appointment for June 16th arrives. Day 11

June 16th: Successful Biometrics. Day 24

Yes sorry i forgot to mention it is a k1. I added my fiancé to the list so he can come with me, i was just wondering if he can actually go with me when they ask me questions!

So no ds230?! Why do they confuse us so much!

There is really no need for him to be at the counter when they ask you questions. The first time you go up you just hand over documents, and the second time they just ask a couple questions regarding your relationship. It is a 5 minute formal discussion, The girl I had was very friendly. There is no need for your partner to join you at the window. If they needed further evidence of the relationship, they would have asked by now.

The forms are generalized to the extent that they are barely understandable to get the specifics. Stick to the guide at the top of the UK forum which Nich-Nick and Wheatly created and you will be just fine.

UK interviews (from what I've heard) are 99.999999999% of the time not a grilling session at all. The UK isn't a high visa fraud country. So relax a little :)

ROC from CR-1 visa (Green Card expiration date was Nov 24th 2016)

Link to the evidence I submitted. Be sure to send evidence spanning your entire marriage (especially for K-1) or as far back as you can. Just one or two bank statements will not cut it. I primarily focused on the two years of living here since I came in on a CR-1. If you don't have the fundamentals (i.e. joint accounts/policies), you can explain why in the covering letter. E.g. "While we do not have joint utilities, we both contribute to them from our joint bank account".

September 26th 2016: I-751 package sent to CSC

September 28th 2016: Package delivered
September 30th 2016: Check cashed
October 3rd 2016: NOA1 received with receipt date of 09/28/16
November 3rd 2016: Biometrics received with appointment date of 11/14/16.
November 14th 2016: Attended biometrics appointment
October 30th 2017: Infopass appointment to get I-551 stamp
February 26th 2018: I-751 case number (aka the NOA1 receipt number) becomes trackable
March 14th 2018: Submitted service request due to being outside of processing time.

March 15th 2018: ROC approved. 535 days (1 year, 5 months and 17 days)

March 29th 2018: Card being produced

April 4th 2018: Card mailed out

April 6th 2018: Card in hand. Has incorrect "resident since" date. Submitted service request on I-751 case (typographical error on permanent resident card) and an I-90 online.

April 2018 - August 7th 2018: Tons of service requests, emails and now senator involvement to get my corrected green card back because what the heck, USCIS. Also some time in May I sent a letter to Potomac telling them I want to withdraw my I-90 since CSC were handling it.

August 8th 2018: Card in production thanks to the direct involvement of Senator Sherrod Brown's team

August 13th 2018: Card mailed

August 15th 2018: Card in hand with correct date. :joy:

October 31st 2018: Potomac sends out a notice stating they have closed out my I-90 per my request. Yay for no duplicate card drama.

Yeah I had my interview their on Friday. And I can definately say, the second I walked up to the first desk my stress levels declined by 100%.

She literally asked me how we met, does she have siblings, and how did I propose.

I have posted a lengthy review in the Embassy Review section. You can actually set up an email response, so everytime someone puts up a review of London you get emailed. It is what I did, and it did help calm the nerves and prepare.
