The only person looking at this with partisan eyes of the two of us is you. dry.png

What good is a warning, if there is no prospect of consequences to follow? That is what we are facing here. Hollow threats serve no purpose, except to diminish respect for those making them - in this case, the President of the United States.

What it does is reduce the prospect of success for any alternate course of action that the US might be pursuing behind the scenes.

Being as I don't much like Obama, I am not sure how that works. I do however take a more pragmatic view of world politics than those who look at Obama and laugh. I also believe that Palin is irrelevant as usual.

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

Palin Mocked in 2008 for Warning Putin May Invade Ukraine if Obama Elected During the 2008 presidential campaign, Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin warned that if Senator Barack Obama were elected president, his "indecision" and "moral equivalence" may encourage Russia's Vladimir Putin to invade Ukraine.

As it turns out Palin was wrong on both occasions. Her comment was at best asinine then, as it is now.

It's become abundantly clear that a discussion with you is pointless. At least that's what I'm getting from your posts. Obama is not just someone. He's the sitting president. People who believe in America care about what he says and does. Why do you think most Americans are unhappy with obama today?

I'm not unhappy with him. You are. You have your reasons. I have mine. My point is it seems that when it comes to Obama, you either love him or hate him. It doesn't appear to be any middle ground.

If you want to have a discussion about him, let's have one. But from what I've learned here, folks that hate him will hate him no matter what.

So she said under Obama's weak leadership we could have a crisis by Russia invading the Ukraine, which is exactly what is happening

That is not what she said, so much as what is being inferred. Palin was and continues to be intellectually unable to make such deep connections.

It can only be attributed to a lack of basic understanding of European geopolitics, the surprise of many at Russia betting the ranch in keeping things under their control in Crimea. It has little to do with who the POTUS is and far more with what is at stake for the Russians. An unstable Ukraine is not in the interest of either Russia or the West.

And Sarah wisely foresaw this based on her extensive foreign policy expertise? rofl.gif She knew that six years out Ukraine would go through a second orange revolution of sorts sending Putin's puppet to hell? She saw all that coming six years ago? Is that what you're saying? rofl.gif

I don't know. What did the video say..You have made multiple replies with a lot of LOL and other nonsense, but have yet to tell me how what she clearly said was wrong.

Here's what she said:

In October 2008, after Russia's invasion of neighboring Georgia emerged as a foreign policy flashpoint in the homestretch of a heated campaign, Palin told an audience in Nevada,

"After the Russian army invaded the nation of Georgia, Senator Obama's reaction was one of indecision and moral equivalence, the kind of response that would only encourage Russia's Putin to invade Ukraine next."

Here's what she said:

Precisely. Her comment was and remain incorrect. By extension, I do not presume for a minute that anyone would attribute the Russian invasion of Georgia as a sign of weakness by the Bush administration.

Russia will do what it needs to take care of its interests, as will the United States.

She nailed it, and you missed the nail and hit your thumb.

"After the Russian army invaded the nation of Georgia, Senator Obama's reaction was one of indecision and moral equivalence, the kind of response that would only encourage Russia's Putin to invade Ukraine next."

Everyone in the mainstream media poo-pooed this as not being possible. She must have had a crystal ball, because she saw obama's indecision and moral equivalence and so did Putin. Now, Putin is like a fox in the hen house.

I am sure everyone else is wrong and you are correct. There can't be any other explanation. International politics is just that simple. Edited by Gegel

These were Sarah Palin's words in 2008. As it turns out SHE was absolutely correct about this! This is one of the wonders of audio, video, and print media. You can have a permanent record of what people say. Like, all of those times where we were told if we like our doctor, we can keep our doctor. If we like our healthplan, we can keep our healthplan. PERIOD.

Now, again, these are not MY words. But, maybe you are having trouble with cognitive reasoning.

Yes, you infer what you will from her words. [Her words] Asinine then. [Her words] Asinine now.

For the record, I'm not INFERRING anything. She accurately predicted what would happen. Now I submit a challenge to you: what part of her quoted statement do you find "asinine?"
