Hey all, so I am now in the Testing and Interviewing stage, and it says I'll receive an interview date and time within 30 days...That being said, I've been researching what exactly they want to ensure you have as credible proof you're a "legitimate" couple...

So far I have this:

- joint bank account at Chase

- cell phone bill in both names

- credit card in both names

- we have a child together (born in August), with a canadian birth certificate indicating both of our names on it, and also an american birth abroad certificate indicating both our names as well.

- pictures, and other secondary evidence such as wedding invitations, save the dates, etc.

Anyone have any tips on what else helped, or they think helped during their interview? I want to be fully prepared!

Thanks everyone, have a great weekend eh!

You seem to have a good mix of documents!

My AOS interview is in a few days and I have the following to bring... I hope this gives you an idea of anything else you could add....

  • Joint tenancy agreement (and an affidavit from Management who live on site)
  • Joint bank account details
  • Joint credit card
  • Joint utility bills
  • Paperwork showing I am his beneficiary
  • My State ID
  • Our tax returns this year Filed Married Jointly
  • A letter from my step children's school confirming I am registered at their school as step-mother and an emergency contact
  • A letter from Husbands work confirming I am listed as his emergency contact
  • Extra photos, all dated and a description on the back
  • Extra affidavits

You shouldn't have any problems.

We only toke:

- apartment lease

- bank printout with both our names

- credit card printout with both out names

- wedding invitations, and save the dates

- the photos we used for the k1 interview that we didn't frame

- 2013 taxes;

and the lady that interviewed us hardly looked at anything, only the pics

She told us we got approved right then. the interview went really smooth and was very pleasant.

good luck

Except for the part where they ask you those silly questions that are on the I-485 form (I was almost cracking up when I had to keep saying no) the rest was more like a conversation than an interview.

It toke maybe 15/20 minutes and that was because I had a RFE on my EAD, apparently they thought I left the country, but she looked it up and didn't see anything and just told us not to worry replying because the EAD and the AP were going to be cancelled anyways.
