Gee thanks Obama. Let's start WW3. What a glorious moron he is

Brilliant, blame Obama for Putin being a war mongering dictator. You people are priceless.

American foreign policy is not dependent one one man. Are you saying that you believe that had Mitt Romney been president at this time the US would just ignore external politics and engage in isolationist policies? Or are you saying that the US should have engagedin protracted military intervention in Syria and first strike against the Russians now? I am a bit perplexed as to why you believe it's Obama and everyone else but not you that is laughable. Are you not a US citizen? Do you only recognize someone as president if you voted for them?

If Mitt Romney had pursued the same course as president Obama, I would have the same misgivings about it. Political partisanship is wholly irrelevant, if the foreign policy is flawed.

If the President of the United States does not believe they will receive approval for, or has no intention of following through with actions, then they should not make statements threatening such action. Failure to back up statements with action naturally reflect poorly on the President and therefore the nation as a whole.

OK, great Now, what exactly should be happening in this situation right now? What should US foreign policy be? Do you believe that if US foreign policy was simply to ignore Putin and his aggressive policies that that would make the US appear strong in Putin's eyes? You don't like what's going on, so what should the policy be? Apparently the worry right now is that Obama's statements are making the US look weak in Putin's eyes. What would make the US look good in Putin's eyes?

Unfortunately they miscalculated. They were happy to see the right wing militant groups doing the dirty work in Maidan, but ultimately the west wanted them to go away. They didn't, and they are now prominent in the new interim goverment, and they have triggered the breakup of Ukraine. Crimea has moved the referendum to March 30th. They don't want to wait until May. People in Donetsk are calling for a referendum now.

The majority of people in the south and east are Russian. They are happy to go back to Russia. Many of them wanted that when the USSR broke up. Like I said, Russia doesn't have to do anything but wait.

And what is Ukraine doing now? They are already talking about building up Ukraine's nuclear arsenal within 3-6 months. Just watch - the EU is going to have to bail on this eventually and we'll all be dealing with an unstable Ukraine for the next 20 years or so. As always, we should have stayed out of it from the beginning but that seems to be a hard lesson.

Stayed out from the beginning? What do you call the beginning? It all boils down to the fact that sovereign nations have different values, goals and expectations. Human's haven't yet come up with the perfect solution to that particular round hole square peg scenario. having one dominant superpower has kept things more restrained but that's all.
