After emailing the Dakar embassy 3 times and not getting anything specific out of them,

I called DOS and according to them we are in AP but of course no other details were available.

The CO said maybe we will be contacted in 3 month, the DOS said Africa can take one year.

I know many here have waited that long but want to know if AP is faster than AR, what is really the difference ? My fiance got a paper( without anything checked )after the interview

that said he will be contacted when the "investigation for his applicaton eligibilty " is completed. So what is the difference between AP and AR ? It does not seem to be a security check but my gut feeling is a document check maybe.

I am just sick thinking about the long wait :crying:

There is no second quessing how long this can take. The only good news is that it will be over eventually. I'm praying for you that it is a very short check and you are reunited very soon. You are not going through a consulate with alot of VJers, but is there any data for how long the average is between the interview and the issueing of the visa? I know in Morocco it varies 1 week to several months with most getting it in under 4 weeks.

Stay on top of DOS, many of the MENA women have had postive and supportive conversations with the operators there. Not everyone but you can always call back. If you keep calling DOS you are likely to find out the checks are cleared even before the embassy notifies your fiance.

Remember we are here at VJ for those moments its gets hard to wait. (F)

Yes, there are very few VJ'ers going through Dakar and no one from Sierra Leone

at this time as far as I know. The ones I know of had a very easy time, Taurean's

fiance was 2 days ahead of us and sailed through with no problem, the wait time for the visa in hand is 1-2 days.

Someone here on VJ had a horrible time in Dakar, can't find them but will search.

But it is not typical to be delayed.

DOS said there are no security checks that are standard for other embassies.

That's why I am so freaked out....we don't seem to fit any mold. Just out there in limbo

by ourselves with no timeline to compare our case to.

I plan to call DOS weekly and email the embassy monthly.

In 3 month I will get the senator involved.........sigh !
