Thanks everyone for the responses...I feel stupid because the hospital in Windsor did "direct deposit" since August for her child tax benefits, I didn't even sign up for it...And so now I feel bad about it, and I don't know how to stop the payments? Do I just email them and say hey I moved to the USA and do not qualify for these? I also get my maternity leave pay from my job in Canada, which I am now worried I will have to pay it all back???

AH!

It was not my intention to rip anyone off, I had never had a baby before and didn't know they sent you money each month until it was in my account next to my HST.

If someone could assist me on what I should do about my maternity leave pay, and child tax i would really appreciate it.

I made sure to cancel my CCTB and GST cheques before I left Canada. They kept sending me the GST cheque which I put into a Canadian bank account, even after i sent them a letter specifically stating I lived in the USA and to stop sending me the GST cheques. This way I can pay back all the money when they ask for it, since I know they will.

As soon as you are not a US resident you are not eligible for Canadian health care or any other Canadian social programs like CCTB or GST cheques, with the exception of EI.

How can I cancel it?
