STILL "at NVC". What are they doing?

Just be patient... =)

my status as of last week thursday is "ready". I was not expecting that to be ready for another week, but I'm not complaining.

Just keep checking or keep calling the nvc.

We have an interview date of March 26th. So, the NVC "NEEDS" to ship our file over to the embassy by the 21st in order for her to still be able to attend the interview. I just want it sent NOW, so that I can exhale!

I check the NVC status probably 25 times a day, and limit myself to only calling them ONCE a day.

No, should I? This is intriguing to me! What do you recommend?

When you call NVC what exactly do they say about your petition? Are you in AP or what?

"Yes, your case is in routine administrative processing. There is no timeline for this. Can I help you with anything else?"

And all questions past that are "I don't have access to that information". Today is day 12, and according to my extensive Vj research, the average is 4.29 days.

It's not that I'm just impatient, it's that I got "lucky", and got an embassy interview on March 26th that I'd like to keep.

Unfortunately you are on AP at NVC it happens at NVC for K1's. It can last from days to months (rare months but it happens). Nothing you can d. You could call and ask a supervisor. The person answering the phone knows nothing. A supervisor might tell you why?

You may have to reschedule sorry. I would play it by ear and only reschedule at the very last minute. Sorry

Presumably there is a history of this having happened in the past. Is it known why this happened for any of the previous cases?

I just read now and then K1's reporting it. I know someone from Jamaica it was like 6 weeks. A friend of mine it was 2 weeks. I known some a few months. No one knows and NVC ain't tellin. I have heard its random but for what who knows. I would most def ask for a supervisor and bring to their attention you have scheduled an interview They have no way of knowing that.

You need to sound the alarm. Again talking to those who answer the phone is a waste of time ask for a supervisor. Hopefully you will get Supervisor Gus. The best man working there.goofy.gif

"Rose" just told me that my question CAN'T be asked of a supervisor, and that she can give me the status of my case. And repeated the same old line.

When she answered the phone, I asked for a supervisor 1st thing. She said "Before I can transfer you, I need your case number". I gave her that, along with beneficiaries name and dob, and MY name and dob, phone number, and e-mail. "OK, and what's your question?" I told her I wanted to know what was going on. "Well, I can give you that information. Your data was entered into the system on March 3rd, and your case is undergoing additional processing. All the I-129's go through additional processing, and there's no timeframe for this."

Too bad you don't have an extension for Gus. I would troll the phone system, and see if I could figure out how to get to him. I might call back, as I haven't told them about the interview yet. See if they care. I would REALLY be shocked if they did.

Rose told me I could call back on Friday, and they could tell me if anything had occurred with my case. Thanks Rose! :-\

OK, just got "JR", who told me the same thing, and that he has seen cases go through processing for MONTHS. I asked if I could have the fact that I have a March 26th interview added to the file, and he said there's no way to add that. He stated that the info that he has is ALL the info that's available, and that a supervisor wouldn't have any more info.

At first he sounded like he was going to be helpful, and maybe give me something that I hadn't gotten so far. But no. Once he pulled up my case, the response was EXACTLY the same as the others. "reading from the script". Have I mentioned that I hate this yet?

I've read somewhere in the forums and on other sites..

Some petitioner's got the attention of their congressman or a senator to find out whats really going on when things were getting too frustrating..

I was afraid that I'd have to take it to that level, you might have to.. who knows?

Just contacted (via webform), both my congressmen.

Also, for anyone interested, the NVC phone system uses *5 digit extensions*, and you can only search by LAST name. So, if anyone knows supervisor Gus' last name, please tell me, and I'll see if I can find him in the phone book. (Also, there's no operator, so dialing 0 gets you nowhere).

I remember there was a November filer that was pulled for AP at NVC too. I remember finding this by chance and sharing it:

The NVC has a process of randomly pulling a certain, unknown number of "K" visa petitions for further administrative processing. It is unknown what exactly takes place during this process. As it is in AP post interview. It may be background/name checks and/or document verification. Some CSR's at NVC have said that they are "verifying documents". But the most common answer will be that "There is no timeframe for the process". There actually is a very predictable timeframe based on VJers experience that has been shared since December 2008. The average time that a case is held during this AP is around 50 days, give or take a day or so. You can call at least once a week to ask if your file has been released out of AP and forwarded to the consulate. Most petitioners that are pulled for random AP DO receive a standard letter from NVC stating that their file will be forwarded to the embassy "within a week", this is a standard letter which is mailed out whether one is in AP or not. If you find that your case has been held at NVC for longer than a week or so; it is advisable to call and ask directly if your file is in AP.

Source here.

I hope this helps. I can't imagine the frustration. :(
