CONFUSED ABOUT NVC

Ok I already received my NOA2 just this past monday 2/24.

I've been looking all over the forums, NVC website, even Hank's site. I'm a bit confused as to what happens next.

I understand that we're waiting for our MNL#... I've emailed NVC several times and I've tried to call, but I think I keep missing their working hours. I live on Guam so I'm a bit confused with the time difference. Anyway... What I want to know is, after I receive the MNL#, do I need to send any further documents to NVC???

I'm preparing my supporting documents for the I-134 Affidavit of support, does this need to go to NVC before they send our petition to USEM... OR does the I-34 and supporting documents only go to my fiancé??

Also... Will NVC reply to my email or will they send me a hardcopy of my MNL#?? Since I have emailed them several times, how long do they usually take to reply??

THANK YOU.

NVC will (in theory) respond to your e-mail once you have a case number. (I should be close to getting one now, and will report my findings accordingly).

You shouldn't have to send ANYTHING to the NVC. They should get your file in, see that it's a K-1, do the data entry, and then ship it off to the embassy in Manila.

Things to be prepared for when you call the NVC during business hours.

* Possibly busy signal, redial until you get through. Took my 6 tries today.

* Long wait times. Today was actually short, at only 15 minutes. Usually takes 20 to 25.

* Prepare to be talked to in a condescending manner. "We don't have your case yet, look at the top of the form that you were mailed. In the upper left corner is a date. You have to give us 8 weeks from that date before you call."

Prepare yourself for those things, and you'll be fine. GOOD LUCK!

Congratz on your petition approval!

You don't send anything to the NVC. Instead, you simply get your MNL case number from the NVC and then you are off to the races. Just be persistent and keep calling the NVC until you get your MNL case number. It can take anywhere from two weeks to six weeks. Eventually, the NVC will email or snail mail you a hard copy with your MNL case number on it.

Once you have your MNL case number, you can pay the visa application fee at BPI and then schedule an interview appointment either online or through the call center. You send your I-134 and it's supporting documents to your fiancée. Your fiancée will submit them during her interview.

Here is a link to the U.S. Embassy's website where they give you instructions on how to prepare for the interview: http://photos.state.gov/libraries/manila/325288/packets/K1%20and%20K2%20Interview%20Preparation%20Instructions%20-%20English%20_updated%2004%20Feb%202014_.pdf

Hank's site, I will assume provides great info. I haven't felt the need to access it. But, please keep in mind, no one's advice is or can be considered the best or that it will meet your need(s). Every situation should be considered on its own merits.

For me, anyways, I do my best to research as much as I can to learn as much as I can.

Best of luck!

No you do not send any more documents to NVC, everything after receiving the MNL# is completed in the Philippines. So send the required forms and documents to your fiance.

The reason NVC has not replied to your emails is because a MNL# has not been assigned to your file yet... be patient.

Thank you Hank. I am really trying to be patient.

Right now I'm just trying to gather all the info... Knowing my fiancé, he will just get confused and overwhelmed on his end... I need to know as much as I can so I can simplify it for him.. LOL.

The embassy instructions letter has everything that is required for the visa. Read through it a couple times, use a copy as a check list.

Once you have the MNL # everything will move very quickly.... OK opening for interviews as of late are starting in May... so that is slow right now.

OK guys, just got the e-mail from the NVC this morning that they've assigned me a case number. My status on CEAC still shows up as "at NVC", but I'm hoping the e-mail means things are moving along.
