Hi, we got our NOA2 on Monday. It says the case was approved and shipped to NVC, but our online status says that they mailed us a notice that they have approved our case; there is nothing about shipping the case. For some case numbers, I have seen the online status changes when they mail the case to NVC. Does it necessarily change for all cases? Another thing if my husband is now filing taxes for 2013, how long will it take to get the tax transcript? We had gotten an RFE from the NVC for our marriage record booklet and its translation despite sending the copy of marriage certificate. Do I need to send in the original marriage record booklet and its translation in the IV packet?

Some service centres send a shipped email and update the case status and some don't. We didn't receive a shipping email and case status has not change since our NOA2 which says that same as what you wrote in your post. We were approved at CSC.

On that note, if you do get a shipped email, that does not necessarily means your file has physically left the building.

You can call USCIS to find out the date that your file physically left but it is easier to wait a couple of weeks from your NOA2 date and call NVC to find out when and if they have received your file.

I am not sure when IRS transcripts become available for 2013 taxes. If memory serves me right, I have read posts on this thread that they are available about a month after IRS has accepted your taxes. Though don't take my word for it. Hopefully someone else that knows for sure will chime in.

As for the IV packet, all the documents you have to include MUST be originals. That includes your marriage record booklet and translation.

Ok, thanks for your reply. The marriage record booklet is more like a priest's copy and the official document of the marriage is the marriage certificate. Even though we sent in the marriage certificate copy to USCIS, we got an RFE for the marriage record booklet. So what I wanted to know is will I need to send the marriage record booklet too along with the marriage certificate in the IV packet?

They only care for the original marriage certificate.

They don't care for the booklet.

Hi Saylin,

I have a questions, I hope you can help. Things are changing at my job and are laying people off. Since I am the only support for my family I feel the need to move to a another company. AOS is being process at NVC at the moment, I am the only sponsor. Do you know how will this change affect the process? What steps should I take at NVC or embassy? Once I change jobs.

Thanks for the support.

Just bring an updated I-864 to the interview if you change jobs. Bring any new pay stubs and an employment letter with as well.

Hi ms.saylin please add me. Noa2 01/21/2014 NVC received file 02/03. Thank you and good nite. Thank you for your time I always wonder how you manage your time to reply to all of us. Much appreciated.

Just called NVC to check on status of Case Number. Still nothing. Our NOA2 was Jan 27 and NVC received it on Feb 6, so it's now 24 business days and counting. The rep said she has no estimate and their backlog is increasing, so she suggested to call next week when we hit 30 business days! It's going from bad to worse..

I just got off the phone with a USCIS tier 2, and I was really surprised with the info provided:

- I got emails saying that my I-129F and I-130 shipped out to NVC on 27-Feb-2014 (NOA2 is 26-Feb-2014).

--- Reality is: I-130 shipped out 04-Mar-2014 and I-129F shipped out 06-Mar-2014.

- I was told when my petitions were transferred to Nebraska on 02-Jan-2014 that both of them were coupled together.

--- Tier 2 told me today that only I-130 was transferred to Nebraska and I-129F remained in Lee Summit Missouri (NBC) and got approved in NBC: I don't believe him since NOA2 for I-129F is also from Nebraska.

anyway, what matters for me is that I-130 was shipped out physically on 04-Mar-2014, only six days after NOA2.

I'll give NVC couple of weeks and I'll start calling them again.

11/17/2016: Got engaged
11/28/2016: I-130 sent to Chicago IL lock box
01/12/2016: NOA1

It is not great but why are you fretting now? They state 20-30 business days, plus when you read these posts it looks like they are actually at 30-40 business days…. don't stress yourself out so much, wait for it to hit 30 days then call every 1-2 days….. getting stressed won't help as there is zero you can do apart from be prepared when you need to be!

What a bummer... On my DS 260 I checked divorced as I was served with divorce summons in 6/2012. It being so long I thought my divorce would have finished as my ex was really interested in making my life miserable during my VAWA journey. But yesterday I called the clerk office in my county and the lady informed me the divorce was closed as neither party showed on the hearings. I couldn't as I was not in the country neither did she. So now legally I am still married..

Can anyone advice me what can be done? Do I wait for NVC to send me checklist for divorce decree as I sent only my summons along with a LOE. Or should I send the letter from court house stating it was dismissed? My friend can get a letter. It will cost 50 cents.

Please advice

My understanding is that if your divorce wasn't finalized and you're still legally married, the underlying marriage for your spousal petition isn't valid unsure.png Not sure I'm interpreting your meaning correctly with "closed" and "dismissed" though.

I was at NBSC and I ot the "we shipped ...." on 27-Feb-2014, but that was not true.

The I-130 did not ship out until 04-Mar-2014.

It seems that everything we get from USCIS is wrong and misleading!

Pls does anyone know how long the Japanese police certificate is good for?

I ordered mine last August before I moved out of Japan. Mine is still sealed with the inkan on it. Should I order a new one for the interview?

And also, do I open the envelope in order to scan it in or do I leave it sealed and just scan the envelope? We are doing EP.

Thanks!

Ok, I called NVC with these questions, the answers are:

1. Japanese police certificate is good for a year;

2. Scan the sealed envelope and include an explanation in the cover letter, bring it to the IV and let the CO open it.

BTW, still no case # yet.
