I'm so frustrated with our accountant.

It took 3 weeks to complete and finally we got 1040 and 2555 yesterday.

He didn't even bother to look at my work information and put my husband's employer/occupation on mine.

Since he is my husband's family friend, we kinda had to ask him.

we possibly have some issues with 2012 tax return too...

Hey everyone - I just had a little panic attack because we received another e-mail from NVC entitled "Checklist Cover Letter". But looking at the list itself, I think it's actually good news. Here's what it says:

______F - FINANCIAL EVIDENCE:______________________________________

The NVC has received the requested Immigrant Visa Application (DS-230). However, we are still

waiting for the response to the checklist letter for the Affidavit of Support (Form I-864). Please return

the requested information so that we may complete the processing of your case.

When responding to the National Visa Center, please include the bar code sheet that came with this

letter. Failure to include the bar code sheet may cause a delay in the processing of your case. The bar

code sheet should be placed on top of all documents being submitted for this case and mailed to the

address provided.

So basically, this is saying "Hey, your IV documents have been reviewed and approved - we just need that stuff we asked for the other day." Which I sent in on Tuesday. Does that sound right to other folks looking at this? It just seems weird that we would get two checklists so close to one another.

I'm calling NVC now to try and confirm my suspicions/hopes, but of course I keep getting a busy signal.

em

I got two of exactly the same thing a couple of days apart, after I'd sent in the AOS checklist response. I too almost had heart failure, thinking, oh gosh what have I done wrong now!? They received it on 2/14 but according to the nice man I spoke to on the phone, they still haven't opened the package yet. I sure wish they could get some more help up there in NH.

How long has everyone else been waiting for them to receive documents via EP? It took them 13 business days to get my AOS, and I am business day 14 of my IV packet and they still don't have it. Operator said to resend, and that they should have it by next week...just wondering if anyone else has been waiting a long time.

Hi Saylin & VJers

just wanna ask if it'll have a problem if I only put my husband's first name and last name on my agents info on DS-261? or it should be a completer name including his second name? im really getting frustrated right now and thinking of things/reason why our IV fee is not yet invoiced even though I know its coz of the backlog. would NVC email us if somethings wrong with the DS-261?

Our case was received at NVC on January 29. Called today, no case number. Looks like it may take the full 30 days which is March 12, not including any snow days or holidays. Staying hopeful:)

Hi Saylin

Just when I thought I had nothing left to worry about something else crops up! I saw a post earlier about filing taxes as single or married and I spoke to my wife and she has filed as single this year even though we were married! :-/

She was advised to do this by her employer because I do not currently live in the States and do not have a SSN etc.

I've read contrasting advice on this. Some posts say the consulate does not care which way you file and others say it can raise a red flag.

It's too late to change now as everything has been accepted by NVC, so I'm hoping you have some good news for me!

Are we likely to be ok?

Cheers

Impressive Signature btw

Do you have a lawyer ?

I would wait at least two weeks and I think youre SUPPOSED to send both in one package.

Did you get a finalized decree of divorce ?

Hi yes I had a lawyer. I fired him because once my IV and AOS bills were ready to pay he wanted me to wait for a week to speak with him. Then he wanted me to send him all the docs another week. He would have delayed this by a Month. Reading posts on VJ and Saylin process I thought I should it by myself and I took control. I don't have a finalized divorcee decree as I left US before my divorce. I am a beneficiary of VAWA. I sent a LOE regarding my inability to send decreee

you got both AOS and IV bill at the same time? Lucky you.

Yes both were billed at the same time...

why would her employer advise her to file single? perhaps you mean she was advised for the w4 which states how much taxes you want taken out of each paycheck? on there it says if non resident alien, check the single box.

the taxes you would file married sep. since you are married... however, if you already submitted the paper work not much to do at this point other than see if you get a checklist for it... I haven't seen one for this scenario, but I know there are quite a few people who file single... I actually just filed, but I opted to not file jointly as a result of having to deal with all the foreign accounts and treaty's, etc. I rather not open that can of works for another couple hundred dollars... risk vs. reward was not there. no need to have a SSN if filing sep. and spouse does not earn US related income.
