Hey super amazing folks, does the NVC notify us the date of the interview at the 'case complete' stage or they notify us at a later date?

I think my DS261 was not accepted until Friday (going to call today after work to confirm). Nearly 2 weeks after submitting it. Invoice is still not available, but does have the yellow triangle so I'm hoping to be able to pay by Wednesday.

You'll get an email notification of your interview date the same day the interview is scheduled.

You should get on the phone with NVC and tell them how long you've been waiting, that's a pretty long time and given the technical issues they've had recently you might need someone to step in and free up the invoice for you.

I've been on the phone and Mr. Waldo told me my DS 261 is still not accepted and yellow triangle doesn't meter.

Just received our case number, IIN and BIN number today morning. On the CEAC website, once I log in, I just see the AOS and Packet 4 details as Not Paid. The check box to select and make payment is not enabled yet. I do not see any DS 261 form either.. Is this normal?

I do not have any attorney handling my case. So can some one please let me know when the DS 261 will appear from the day we receive our case number?

First off, don't confuse IV with packet 4. Packet 4 is the interview letter. The IV package (which isn't the Roman numeral 4, by the way) is the Immigrant Visa package.

But yes, that's completely normal. Please read the wiki I wrote on the NVC process, linked in my signature below.

I don't think there's a separate phone number or contact email for that. Call the standard NVC number and ask to speak to a supervisor so you can file a complaint.

Yes, that's all normal. It took me a week from receiving case number to be able to fill out the DS-261. Poke around this thread and look at the timelines in signatures, and find a few people with dates close to yours to keep an eye on

Based on other case completes and the current average time to get out of NVC with no checklists, I'm looking at the week of April 7 as realistic. ~2 weeks for IV review from date scanned at NVC seems pretty standard right now. That, of course, won't stop me from calling tonight to check in

What if i need to file complaint about a supervisor? I received a ckecklist 3 weeks ago. I called NVC and I was told i could bring the original birthcertificate to the interviews at the embassy. I received an email on saturday stating that still havent provided them with the birth certificate yet. I called today and all the sudden I m at fault and they are deniying everything. Man that will delay the case another month.

Can Saylin or someone else please answer my question on tax return?

My wife went who is a US citizen went to tax firm to get her taxes done. She was going to file "Married - Filing separately" so we don't have to get ITIN number for me. But at tax firm they told her she will need to file W7 and apply for ITIN even if she files married but filing separately since it won't allow them to proceed with her return w/o my ss number.

She hasn't sent her return yet, but my question is do we really have to apply for ITIN number even if she wants to file married filing separately? or can we just write NRA by hand on her tax return and send it? I am afraid I won't get my certified copy of passport before tax return is due.

I also had a similar issue with taxes. You do not need a ITIN if you are filing Married filing Separately. However, you cannot file the taxes electronically and your tax lady has to write in NRA herself. I also had to walk my tax lady through the process since she was not familiar with it.
