You might be eligible for i864EZ, it may reduce some of those questions.

I agree with you and I already filled out 864-EZ; but then read other posts on VJ, and decided to use 864, just to be on safe side: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/483206-nvc-filers-march-2014/?p=6911843

Thanks.

May be more experienced members may chime in,

I still think it's better to use I864-EZ if you qualify to use it.

All three of the following are true:

  • You filed a Form I-130 petition, for your relative
  • There is only one applicant on the Form I-130 petition, and
  • All your qualifying income comes from a salary or pension and shows on one or more W-2 Forms that you receive

Pls dwheels I have a question to ask about the interview at the U.S consulate in lagos, it says we are to bring the originals of the police character certificate, marriage certificate...e.t.c,but we already submitted that to NVC,what do I do?

Maybe I can help you. In your interview letter did you get a page that lists what they want to have, with a letter code to the right of each item? Because if you did get a list like this (we did), they'll tell you if you need to bring these things or not. There's a page that explains each letter code with our interview letter. So, maybe go back and read that entire interview letter again, very carefully, word for word.

Basically what they want to see is the originals for important documents that you just sent copies of in your packages, so that they can compare your copy with the actual, original document (for example you might have sent just a copy of your birth certificate so they want to see the real thing in their hands), and they want you to give them a copy to put in your file of any important originals they already have, so they can give you those originals back.

That's just my take on our letter, please anyone else chime in... :)

You got that on the embassy website correct? It's outdated.

Once you get case complete and assigned the interview you will get a personalized checklist of things to bring (if you didn't submit to NVC).

I always tell people to have a copy of everything you submitted to NVC just in case but no originals are not required or asked for (unless they lost it).

At this time of year an updated I-864 and 2013 taxes is needed and remember Lagos loves Tax Transcripts.

wait what? I am confuse now the first question of mailing address isn't about the petitioner? it ask u state and zip code and then the second part where it says other information as it reflects on the sample form on here isn't the beneficiary address?

http://www.visajourney.com/examples/INS-Form-I-864.pdf

The Mailing Address on page 1 of I-864 (top of second column) is about the beneficiary. I had to write it by hand as the fillable pdf won't accept the long address that my wife has in India. Other information is also about the beneficiary.

hello,

I am getting confused, my husband says just to wait and NVC will email out lawyers with the invoice. But, when I called NVC on Thursday I got the case number, but they said the forms were not ready to submit the email addresses..

when i told the lawyer she said "Great news on obtaining the NVC Case Number! Did by any chance they mention when we will be receiving the invoices to pay the Immigrant Visa and Affidavit of Support? The invoices have a separate invoice # - along with the Case No. that will allow me to pay for those items and it will let us move forward.

I would not be surprised that we receive the fee bills next week since you made an inquiry. If not, I will definitely call."
So I wrote back saying that they said to call on Monday to submit the emails-I was going to call at 7am again, i asked our lawyer whether i should submit her email or ours or both- but she did not answer me.
So now I don't know what to say when i call NVC tomorrow- do I give over her email our ours. Do they already have the email as my husband thinks? I don't want to complicate anything since the lawyer is all ready to go with all the fees and forms.

Call NVC Monday and give them your email addresses (both). But you will be able to access and pay the invoices by logging in the NVC website and entering your Case # and IIN. The AOS fee invoice should become available to pay and also the DS-261 (Change of Agent form) within a couple of days of the Case # becoming available. So again check the website on Monday. No Ds-261 for them they have a lawyer. Once you log in and you are invoiced you should have AOS and IV bill invoiced together when that time comes.

Why not give them lawyers and petitioner or Beneficiary doesn't really matter. Looks like you are all talking to each other so thats good.

I personally have no idea why someone would use a more complicated form than you need to. Both saylin and I used the I-864ez with no issues. Less questions = less spots to mess up.

This is regarding my address change. I am the principal applicant/beneficiary and am at the NVC stage now. I plan to move out of the house where I have been living which is the address that I had as my current address in the i130 form. I wish to change the address in the DS 260 and i86f ez. I have already changed the address in the D 261 (choice of address and agent form). Is this likely to lead to any complication given that the consulate might be sending me something through postal mail too?

In the mail we got from NVC with our case and IIN numbers, it does mention that I can convey the change of address. Would like to know from people who might have done, is it advisable to do it. I am still not very clear if there is going to be any communication from NVC or the Consulate by postal mail.
