Hmm... I have a doubt... when using IRS transcripts to file I-864, do we have to use the amounts from line "TOTAL INCOME" or "ADJUSTED GROSS INCOME"?

TOTAL INCOME = always the total income

We got a checklist for an unmatched amount coz we used the amount from W2. So per IRS, Adjusted Gross Income is defined as gross income minus adjustments to income. Refer to the federal income tax return:

Line 4 - if you filed a Form 1040EZ

Line 21 - if you filed a Form 1040A

Line 37 - if you filed a Form 1040.

No, it's not always total income. It's dependent on if you filed a 1040 or a 1040EZ.

Yes the advice was for 1040 only.

Well, you quoted a post where they didn't mention if they had filed a 1040 or 1040EZ, so you need to be clear, otherwise it can confuse others reading thinking it's always total income, regardless if a 1040 or 1040EZ was filed.

I feel you! We got a checklist for the same reason. Though we also had unmatched tax amount which I understand. But I can't believe they will actually give a checklist for not putting N/A for that billing and mailing address thing only? Seriously? That's ridiculous!

Just do whatever NVC say.. They are the BOSS here.. We people are helpless :(

USCIS:

  • 02/25/13 : I-130 Filed NBC
  • 02/28/13 : NOA1
  • 10/23/13 : Case transferred to Nebraska Service center
  • 12/06/13 : NOA2

NVC:

  • 01/03/14 : Shipped to NVC.
  • 01/17/14 : NVC recieved the case.
  • 02/24/14 : Case number assigned and IIN/BIN.
  • 02/28/14 : DS-261 Available and completed.
  • 03/03/14 : Received e-mail to pay AOS Fee.
  • 03/04/14 : AOS invoice available and paid(In Process).

He is a US citizen, lived in the UK, now moved back to the US. I am French, we met in 2010 in the UK and got married in March 2013 in France.

That is correct.

For Form 1040 its TOTAL INCOME from the transcript or line 22 from the full return

As far a I know, you have to put college. I don't think they are so picky about small stuff. They don't ask for certification etc.

2/28/2013: Attorney mailed the I-130 from a U.S. address.
3/4/2013: Priority date, NOA1.
11/6/2013: Case was transferred to Nebraska Service Center.

1/6/2014: 60 days of transfer are up, put in an e-request, given 30 days' time. Contacted the senator. Senator asked to wait till Feb 6 and if nothing then she will do something.
2/5/2014: Website status changed to RFE.
2/10/2014: Attorney gets RFE. They need G325A and photos of both me and husband, original marriage certificate, copy of marriage record and it's translation.
2/15/2014: Mailed the requisite documents to husband.
2/19/2014: Documents received by husband.
2/24/2014: RFE mailed.
2/26/2014: Case status changed to RFE review.
3/6/2014: After 367 days, NOA2.

After approval kept calling NVC but NVC always had one reply, file was not in their system. Husband too called USCIS National Customer Service Center and was told case was sent to NVC.
4/2/2014: Write to NSCFollowup to know about the status of the petition.
4/10/2014: Put in a ?service request with USCIS starting with OVP to locate case.
4/16/2014: Reply from NSCFollowup that the U.S. law prohibited that office from responding to anyone other than the petitioner and to have the petitioner contact them.
4/18/2014: Sent email to NVC Research to locate the case.
4/22/2014: Petitioner sent email to NSCFollowup
5/14/2014: Receive email from NVC Research that they do not have a record of receiving the petition.

and what is Chickenpox (Varicella does he have to take them twice ?

In my place we call chickenpox "kankar pathar," ask your mother-in-law if your husband had the kankar pathar as a child. If he had it as a child, he need not take the shot for it.

Hello guys,

Pls help me, I was in US in f1 visa for 2 years. Do I need to get the US police clearanc?

Or will the embassy does it,,.??

I read the uscis website but still confused....

You do not need US police clearance.

In my place we call chickenpox "kankar pathar," ask your mother-in-law if your husband had the kankar pathar as a child. If he had it as a child, he need not take the shot for it.

This is my experience: When you go to do your medical ( I did mine in Mumbai) Even though they ask you about all the vaccinations you had as a child, they still give you all the vaccines that are on the list. First, the simple vaccines don't hut ppl and that is the way they make money. So I would suggest that don't worry about it. Take all the paperwork with you and let them handle it form there.
