Okay so I am currently living in Pakistan and have lived in saudi arabia previously. Now according to the travel.state.gov website i do not need police records for any of the countries. Is it a good idea to send with the civil documents, a print out of where it is written on the website tht it is not required and highlight that statement ? Or should I just let it go. I just wanted to send them a reminder so I dont end up getting a check list ? What do you say experts?

How long were you living in Saudi Arabia?

According to the travel.state.gov site, you need police clearance reports for all countries where you've lived (for more than 12 months in Saudi Arabia in your case).

An applicant must obtain a police certificate from the local police authority:

IF you are 16 years old or older

AND…

have been living in your country of nationality at their current residence for more than 6 months

lived in a different part of your country of nationality for more than 6 months

lived in a different country for more than 12 months

were arrested for any reason and any age at the time of the arrest

According to the US embassy Islamabad website, it says you do not have to submit a police certificate if you have resided in Pakistan, Afghanistan or the US. So you probably will have to get one from Saudi Arabia if you were there for more than 1 year after the age of 16. Pakistan police certificate is not required. Here is the link to the site where it is stated

I'm 99% sure it's not high fraud, but I might throw in a few more pictures and mail anyways. Just in case. Even if it's not high fraud, it's still Latin America and there's some stigma.

Thanks! :)

I didn't put anything extra in the IV because I figured the I-130 evidence should be enough- we had sent in our bank account, our apartment lease, and all that...plus I think in the case of you and I, who have been living with our spouses abroad for so long, they will know it's less likely to be a fake marriage (compared to someone who has only seen their spouse a few times in the last few years). Most of the cases from my embassy that have had AP and other problems have been fiance visas with relationships of short duration and cases where the couples lived apart and didn't visit enough. In our case, we don't have the other kinds of proof that some people have, but we have fewer, stronger pieces of evidence, so my hubby was in agreement to wait for the interview when he can show them photos of our lives together in the past years.

I am the petitioner (USC). My husband is Senegalese.

There is no police report gathering from US. So no worries. The only thing a person would have to get is if they do have a record they would need to provide court documents. If you put you lived in US they (DHS) does their own background search on you.

Actually, it is not necessarily any worse. Whether you email or mail, it sits at NVC for quite a few days before they actually 'touch' it.

Make sure you write the Case # on the top (right) of every paper you send with the AOS and IV package. For the original papers, put a sticky note with the case #.

Thank you! Thank you for the tips!

I think you misunderstood what I am trying to say. You need to fill the form which is linked in Saylin's signature to be ADDED to the NVC filers spreadsheet which Saylin is maintaining. And it is a good thing to be submitting all papers through post the way I see it. I've seen posts on this thread wishing they could post papers but it is not an option for them. So cheer up, everything is going just great.

I understood :) thank you!

Excellent find Atrain01: Police certificates not needed if the applicant resided only in Pakistan - and I have asked my wife to get it from all cities (in Pakistan) where she lived for more than 12 months; and she was lucky to get those. I will still send them, does not hurt to send extra documentation, but I will also attach the print out from this webpage http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/fees/reciprocity-by-country/PK.html" when i send the IV package.

Thanks.

Did anyone send a copy of form 1040 for their AOS? if so, did you re-sign the form if your copy did not have a signature?

I completed my form 1040 using a computer, printed it, signed it and mailed it to the IRS. What I have now is the copy of the form 1040 stored on my computer... wondering if I need to print it and sign it again before sending to NVC.

Got a checklist for my mother's I-864A, Part-1,Item-3, for leaving that space blank. We left that blank because both mailing address and residence address are the same. And also it clearly mentioned inside the bracket of item-3 that i only need to fill out If different from mailing Address. I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS. We are so unlucky from the beginning of this whole process :(

Dear VJ members, please DO NOT leave anything blank on your forms. Their instructions are totally BS.. I learned my lesson!!

I feel you! We got a checklist for the same reason. Though we also had unmatched tax amount which I understand. But I can't believe they will actually give a checklist for not putting N/A for that billing and mailing address thing only? Seriously? That's ridiculous!

I had the same concern as I also filed my 1040 online.

I would suggest you get a transcript instead of sending a copy of the 1040. They prefer this anyways, as they can confirm the IRS submission as opposed to a copy of 1040.

You can get a transcript instantly online.
