Ah, forgot to ask a question about DS-260 in my last post:

For the address my husband intends to live at, I am putting my mother's address, but she is moving so it will change in the next few months before we get there (and we still intend to live with her where she will be). Is it okay to put her current address and update it at the interview? In any case, for where the green card is sent, I was hoping to put our post box.

I am the petitioner (USC). My husband is Senegalese.

It is definitely optional. For high fraud countries it is a very good idea. For others maybe not.

When I submitted I-130 the only thing I submitted was our Marriage Certificate. I had not discovered VJ back then in July2013. So when I sent in the IV package, I included - affidavits from people who attended the wedding, phone and WhatsApp logs, money transfer records, gift records, copies of travel to India and back, pics of wedding and post wedding etc. The pics were inserted into a Word document with comments added.

Do you send originals or photocopies of evidence?

This NVC thread is for CR1/IR1 visa filers, we have a very different NVC process than K1 filers. I'm not sure where there's a thread for K1 NVC, otherwise I'd link you

They can request at your interview that you get a new police cert if it has expired, but won't always.

Sorry, thanks for clarifying!! I'll poke around and see if I can find the K-1 equivalent...

Good luck to all of you CR1/IR1 filers...I know you all have much longer wait times, and as the dead last September filer to get their NOA2, I can definitely empathize! Hang in there, fingers crossed for speedy approvals!

The marriage certificate, police certificate, and the affidavit were original. The birth certificate was certified copy. The rest are just photocopies.

It looks like it is taking a month to get a case number for the I-130 after its received by the NVC... But what about the K3? For people who filed the K3...... How long did it take to get your case number and for the embassy to receive your file?

I can't stand when NVC blurts out some stupid ridiculous timeframe for receiving files via DHL. I was told 8 weeks just to receive the file from TSC. I just want to reach through the phone and strangle them.

I got case number for my I-129F after two weeks NVC got it. However, that number never worked on the CEAC website and they never sent my I-129F to the embassy. We tried very hard to tell them we wanted to get the K3, but they said it wasn't up to us, that they would make a decision over that. Our conclusion is that they closed it because our I-130 and I-129F got approved at the same time and NVC probably got them both at the same time, so they decided to processed our I-130 instead of the I-129F.

My guess is that people who actually see some movement on the I-129F, like NVC sending it to the embassy and emails about it, is because their petitions I-130 and I129F got approved on different dates; therefore, both petitions get to the NVC on separated boxes and then they both are processed. That's just my guess...

THis is what I hope happens once my files are received..

K-3 gets a number and sent off to the embassy.

I-130 gets thrown in a dust pile and forgotten for a month or so. Just long enough for us to attend an interview and fiel our waiver.

But of course since I just said that...I won't have it my way.

so if the case number works on the CEAC then I might have a good chance?

IV was available to pay this morning (two days after yellow triangle) so paid, saw that it went into in process, got the cover sheet and sent off the packages. Now waiting for the DS-260 to become available.

Had a bit of a scare before sending it off when I went to look up any requirements from the Tokyo embassy and it said non english document translations need to be certified and notarized. Ran around looking for a notary for a bit, failed, then did research and found no one has notarized their translations of the koseki (birth certificate) or Japanese marriage certificate, just included a letter "certifying" the translation by the translator.

Yes, I think so. I checked mine yesterday just in case, and nada... didn't work. I hope your I-129F gets to the embassy and gets processed there. Something I though after all my calls... just in case, when you call inquiring for the I-129F don't mention you have an approved I-130, same thing if your I-129F gets to the embassy, don't warn them on the I-130, be quiet lol. Maybe that's what put us in evidence on NVC, because only when I was like... We want to apply for the K3 visa but we also have our I-130 approved... they were like, Oh, the I-129F is under blah blah blah and we're going to make a decision soon... Yes, they closed it :bonk:
