OMG, I'm freaking out! There's still a chance ours will be closed. We have 261 submitted and the AOS invoice is sitting there for payment. This is scary. It's saying on ceac that K3 is ready, just waiting for medical report. They'll have that by next Wednesday.

The thing that is messing up many people is you are trying to complete two paths. When your petitions get approved you have to decide what path. You already started the CR1/IR1 ball rolling so to the embassy you decided.

That's why they get closed. If you wanted K3 you should not be doing anything at NVC and let it sit. Sorry.

Hi all!

Really excited to finally be able to post a question to the NVC thread...progress!!

My fiancé and I FINALLY received our NOA2 last week after an agonizing 6 months and 1 week and are waiting on some indication that our case has been shipped to the NCV. No NOA2 hardcopy yet...

My question is 3-fold:

1) what do we do with the NOA2 hardcopy once it arrives? Does my fiancé have to have it at his interview or just hang on to it for our files and send a scanned copy?

2) how should we receive the notification that our file has been shipped to the NVC? Another text alert? Change on the USCIS.gov website? Is it possible that we wouldn't receive any news but the case had already been shipped?

3) Anyone with any experience with requests to process an application at a different Embassy outside beneficiary's home country (fiancé is Moroccan but works in Qatar)? Can someone confirm that it is at the NVC stage that this request is considered? Any thoughts on the likelihood of that being honored?

Since our NOA1-NOA2 took AGES, we're anxious to keep these next steps flowing smoothly, so thanks for any info/insight you can offer!

Since this thread is for CR1/IR1, not all the processes are likely the same and you may benefit more from joining their threads.

1-the hard copy of the NOA2 is really just for your records and information but you shouldn't require it as not everyone even receives their hard copy.

2-NVC doesn't tend to notify you, you call to find out when it was received.

3-sorry, I don't know, but I have heard others discuss this topic, maybe someone else can answer:)

And your NOA1-NOA2 may have taken ages for a K1, but it doesn't compare to the wait seen by many filing for the CR1/IR1, we can empathize with the long wait;)

We are going to submit our IV packet tonight including our police report from canada, I know it expires after a year so does that mean if we have an interview date after the year has passed since we obtained the report we need a new one even though at this moment it is not expired and it is being submitted with the IV packet?

I would think you'd need a new one for the interview if it has expired prior to then.

"If you are not willing to learn, no one can help you. If you are determined to learn, no one can stop you."

"Life is not what it's supposed to be. It's what it is. The way you cope with it is what makes the difference."

Wow, i hope our lawyer doesn't get mad when i tell them i called NVC this morning. I just want to get the case number and have so far resisted the temptation to interfere. She has only talked to someone once so far- and got the 30 days thing.

Maybe i won't tell them i called if i don't get it. Also not sure if i do get it, if i should give over our emails, because our lawyer is doing all the paying of everything for us. ARG I'm still gonna phone though hah

Hi smoddydana, I am in the same boat as you. I am highly anxious and want to call to know if our case was received by NVC, however, for some reasons I can't call and though my husband called some days back we received no info whether the case was at NVC. My husband wants to take it easy and call after some days and he won't call now even if I tell him to. Reading about the lawyers has got me worried too. Our lawyer doesn't plan on calling. He apparently told my husband he will receive an e-mail with the case numbers. In the meanwhile, he has gathered the tax information of my husband. If you phone the NVC, they will be asking for the beneficiary's e-mail ID, what will you be doing then?

I'm the beneficiary, wife of USC.

I think I would bite their living head off if someone said that to my spouse.

My husband let me deal with it myself, and backed me up, and then we cut the guy out of our lives.

We also had lots of people yell at me for speaking English with my kids because "they'll never learn Dutch" and when I wouldn't stop because damnit they're my kids and I want them to be bilingual, they went around my husband and I and harassed my daughter. Every time she was with them, they would tell her, "No, in the Netherlands we only speak Dutch, and in America you only speak English." We didn't find this out until months later when she refused to speak English to us at all. We're STILL having problems with this.

I have friends whose kids are bilingual (English and Dutch) and their kids get worse grades in school just because one of their parents is American. Every kid in the same classes as their kid who had a foreign parent gets worse grades, regardless of whether or not they actually did worse. They could have aced the test, and the teacher gives them the equivalent of a 'C' because they "felt" that was an appropriate grade.

At some point, it just wears you down. My husband is awesome, but I couldn't deal with the rampant and growing racism, sexism, and xenophobia where we lived in the Netherlands. I started hating leaving my house because I'd get nasty things yelled at me every time I left the house. If we allow the little acts of hatred to pass un-checked, we are paving the way for greater acts of hatred.

No one should be subjected to that treatment. No one deserves that. If you're against one kind of immigrant because of their accent, or language, or perceived immigration status, and think it's okay to be nasty to them because of it, then what must you think of my husband? My children were born in the Netherlands and were dual citizens. They're smart kids, they might not understand the words but they'll understand the sentiment and hatred leveled at foreigners. And they're going to internalize it and apply it to themselves.

Forget that #######. Treat every one decently and we're cool. Start being a jerk, and I'm going to call you on it.

Hello everyone,

Maybe can answer my question: I have AOS and IV packages ready to go (thank you to the awesome instructions from Saylin), now, I wanted to send in evidence of our marriage before the interview. Where and when do I send those?

If you want to send additional evidence to NVC, you should send it with the IV packet.

Yup, I'd put it in at the end since it's not part of the required documentation. Maybe separate it out with a statement explaining you've elected to include additional relationship evidence and then list the items.

That's good to know. Thanks LoveMyTico!

I will NOT start the I-130 process process then even if I get a case #!!!!

Waiting to see how NoalAnne's K3 process is going. Their medical is scheduled for tomorrow.

Don't worry we didn't have high hopes for K3. That's why we started with CR-1 anyway. The explanation in the mail is that since our I-130 is approved, they can't issue K3. So approved I-130 petition means cancellation of K3. Probably when NVC received they didn't saw or have our I-130 approved by USCIS. That's my opinion maybe I'm wrong.

I'm the beneficiary, wife of USC.
12/30/2012: Got engaged.
1/16/2013: Got married in India.

I-130:
2/28/2013: Attorney mailed the I-130 from a U.S. address.
3/4/2013: Priority date, NOA1.
11/6/2013: Case was transferred to Nebraska Service Center.

1/6/2014: 60 days of transfer are up, put in an e-request, given 30 days' time. Contacted the senator. Senator asked to wait till Feb 6 and if nothing then she will do something.
2/5/2014: Website status changed to RFE.
2/10/2014: Attorney gets RFE. They need G325A and photos of both me and husband, original marriage certificate, copy of marriage record and it's translation.
2/15/2014: Mailed the requisite documents to husband.
2/19/2014: Documents received by husband.
2/24/2014: RFE mailed.
2/26/2014: Case status changed to RFE review.
3/6/2014: After 367 days, NOA2.

After approval kept calling NVC but NVC always had one reply, file was not in their system. Husband too called USCIS National Customer Service Center and was told case was sent to NVC.
4/2/2014: Write to NSCFollowup to know about the status of the petition.
4/10/2014: Put in a ?service request with USCIS starting with OVP to locate case.
4/16/2014: Reply from NSCFollowup that the U.S. law prohibited that office from responding to anyone other than the petitioner and to have the petitioner contact them.
4/18/2014: Sent email to NVC Research to locate the case.
4/22/2014: Petitioner sent email to NSCFollowup
5/14/2014: Receive email from NVC Research that they do not have a record of receiving the petition.
5/16/2014: Congressman's immigration caseworker contacted supervisor at NSC who said the petition is pending and will be dispatched in two weeks.
5/27/2014: Petitioner received response from NSCFollowup that the case was pending an internal extended review. Really?
6/19/2014: USCIS case status change, "On June 19, 2014, we shipped this case..."
7/1/2014: Case received at NVC.
7/14/2014: NVC case number assigned.
8/1/2014: AOS and IV fees invoiced.

8/6/2014: AOS and IV packages mailed, completed and submitted DS-260.
8/7/2014: AOS and IV packages delivered to NVC.
8/8/2014: AOS and IV packages put into the system (scanned).
9/20/2014: Get the 60-day email.
9/30/2014: Case Complete!
10/3/2014: Interview scheduled for November 7.
