I have called NVC and gave them my email, does that not cover case complete status. I hope I don't get a checklist, if I do, I would literally have to file a case against my attorney as that is exactly what I paid for....I didn't want to miss any paper work.

I guess I will call NVC tmrw, but calling them is a challenge in itself. Would you not agree.

Yes I definitely agree ? always feel like i need to pick out answers from them, why can you tell me what I need to know ?

Hello All :)

Congrats Saylin your new job!!! It's more than well deserved.

Question, my husband was registered in high school under a different last name due to a clerical error. Is it better on the DS-260 to put that he didn't attend high school?

Thanks.

Well, of course you need to include the high school information. Doesn't matter what name was used then. If he went to school, include it.

Saylin, I just remembered.. I was not able to photocopy the original documents that I sent to NVC. The documents i sent were:

-Document cover sheet

-Photocopy of passport bio page

-2 pcs photograph

-original birth certificate

-original marriage certificate

-original police clearance (NBI clearance)

Will there be problems when there are no photocopies included?

It's fine. They'll just have to make their own copies.

Sorry saylin. Can we update the spreadsheet? My case number was assigned on the 21st and I found yesterday so I gave u the wrong date ;-) thanks

Not sure about "we", but I can update it :P

Saylin...please update our spreadsheet!!!

Our? It's mine :P

And I can't update as you're not even on the spreadsheet. I'm assuming you meant to ask to be added to the spreadsheet? If so, you have been.

Should I put my ITIN number document in package IV, we received today, that's also civil document or not? Please someone

Don't bother. Why would you add that? It's got nothing to do with the IV package

When doing EP, do we REALLY have to wait to receive email from NVC saying our ENROLL email was accepted before sending anything to them by email? Will be able to send in AOS in a day or two. Anyone have any experience sending AOS in before receiving enroll accepted email from NVC?

You can try sending before the enroll acceptance. That's what I did back in 2011. But, a few days after I actually got accepted, during one of my daily calls (inquiring about the status of my packages), the operator suggested I re-send them since I wasn't accepted into the program. So, I did. To do this day, I don't know which package was accepted. But, I do remember hearing (I believe it was from Darnell), where if you send a package and the case isn't enrolled yet in EP, then it'll automatically dis-regard your email. But, a member either today or yesterday (days blur together here :P) received an email from NVC saying they had reviewed a package they had sent pre-acceptance. So, either things have changed, or by the time they get to your packages, you're accepted into the program, so it's fine.

What I suggest doing: send the packages as soon as you can. Then, after acceptance, send them again, just in case (and include at the bottom of the body that this is the second time you're sending it, the first time was on xx/xx/2014).

AOS and IV fee became available today so I paied them both. Anybody else who paied both fees the same day?

Those with lawyers/attorneys attached to their case, yes.

Does nvc go faster of you have a lawyer?

You would need the lawyer from the start of the I130, but getting a lawyer now at the NVC stage would not make a difference... It's faster because you get invoiced for both bills at once.

Hey Saylin

I hope the new job is going well!

So, we spoke to a NVC rep yesterday who said our case was complete! She then said that although it is complete, there is one correction that needs to be made but I will need to take this to the interview and not need to send it in as a checklist response to NVC.

We just received an email from NVC that is exactly like a normal checklist. It has the bar code cover sheet etc and is titled CHECKLIST. However, on page 3 it says this...

We have finished reviewing your case. We will tell you when we set an interview

date for your case. Please do not contact the U.S. Embassy or Consulate in
LONDON, GREAT BRITAIN AND NORTHERN IRELAND about your
interview until we give you the date.
We saw that either your Affidavit of Support was incomplete, some of your
supporting documents were missing, or both. We have marked the missing items
on the checklist below.
You should send any of the missing items to ************** so he or she can
take them to the visa interview. The Consular Officer will review the missing
items at the time of the interview.
The checklist is because my wife did not put N/A in a box (sponsors place of residence if different from mailing address. Can we safely assume that the phone rep from yesterday was correct and our case is indeed complete and we just need to prepare a new form with the N/A included for the interview.
Have you ever heard of them sending out a checklist to be addressed at the interview as opposed to sending the info in?
It was just the format of the email that through us off, because it resembled a normal checklist, plus it says this on page 4 when explaning the missing information...
NVC has reviewed the financial evidence submitted. However, additional information is
required to complete the financial evidence review. Please provide all requested documents and
refer to page two for mailing instructions
But my thinking is that this is just a standard template they use and that the fact that we have already correctly responded to a checklist and this one is very minor and not mentioned in our first checklist means they are happy for us to progress...
Many thanks in advance!

Does nvc go faster of you have a lawyer?

Well yes and No. You would think a person would have a good 4 week jump on someone having a lawyer because no DS-261 so IV bill and AOS get invoiced together.

However toe to toe without you get through faster because lawyers don't call NVC (a rare few may). You will see people post all the time "Lawyer waiting for email or snail mail. ) I know someone who waited 8 months fr lawyer to get information because lawyer refused to give email at USCIS or NVC so everything was the mail. It took 6 months to get case# through mail. Then 2 months to get mail of AOS, and another 2 months for IV.

In all they were at NVC for 13 months when they finally got interview all because a hardheaded lawyer (they were too and wouldn't believe me that you can call the government). The lawyer told them their file would be pulled and denied. :protest:

Because we at VJ encourage and tell you to call you get to find out weeks ahead. Look how long it takes after you call and get case# to get the email. Someone gauged it and they said it is 6 months if you just sat around and waited for NVC to let you know the next step.

Thank God for Saylin and the rest of you knowledgeable people that keep us on track and give us a leg up and hey kick some knowledge to us that maybe we can help the next person that comes along. :luv:
