so is there something I should be obsessing over now that I am approved? another database showing progress???

My first big stress at NVC was how long it took for my case to get from Nebraska to NH. A whole month!!! Some only took a week or two tho. Then there is the big wait for the case #! After that things start happening. Not quickly but it makes you feel better to know that your doing something. And not just waiting like USCIS. There are rumors about them working OT so hopefully it will pick up a bit. Your best judge of timeframes is to just look at peoples sigs and pay attention to the people who are approved/getting case #'s around the time you do. And then just stalk the ####### out of them!!! Lol!! I have 4 or 5 people who I've been near through the whole process. We are all waiting now for case complete and hoping for no checklist. Sorry to give you this bad news but you are HERE and moving forward now!!! But it will still take tons of patience.

Hey, saylin.. need help..

I have two police certificates. The latest one has my husband's Pakistan's address on it but now I am not living there anymore. I can't live alone in the house as my in laws are in the US.
DS-260 has this present address section, if I write my parent's address would that be ok ? However, I have another police certificate stating my previous address (which where I am living now, my parent's house).

Is this gonna complicate it ?

Thank you!

You may or may not get and email that says that your cases were shipped out to the NVC. If your status doesn't change within the next few days, I'd contact the congress person again. I know that they're stating they have 6-8 weeks to ship it out to the NVC, but I'd start raising hell if it doesn't leave the USCIS within two weeks. Especially given the length of time that you've already been waiting. After it actually leaves the USCIS, it usually gets there within 2 weeks. I started calling daily about a week after I got approval. Then it's the long ridiculous slog to get the case number. Although your I129 might go faster.

There are two pinned posts at the top that you probably want to read. Or the new wiki entry that Saylin wrote. smile.png

the plan is to pursue the K-3. I already waited so long, I am not in the mood to wait at the NVC. Hopefully the K3 gets a case number and flies to CR before they even know my I-130 exists at the NVC. I couldn't care less about the adjustment fee when he gets here. I'm more concerned about the lost time and the time I still have to wait for the waiver ( that we can't even file til after his interview) I'm no spring chicken. Time is a ticking !!

of course that is only a "plan" nothing ever works the way you want it when you are dealing with Immigration.

There is an ebb and flow at NVC....

We get clues from some of the nicer NVC operators....

that occasionally give us a glimpse behind the scenes.

the best news of late is that they are reportedly working

overtime and Saturdays to deal with the backlog.

For now that is having a positive impact on time frames.

Cue obsessive CEAC checking today. tongue.png

haha right?

I just went to the CEAC website and there's a yellow triangle under the DS260 for my Mum, but I still cannot pay when I click on it. Nothing shows for my Dad yet. I think I may call today and see if they have reviewed the AOS yet. I got a letter yesterday in the mail from the NVC and my first thought was oh sheep, here we go with the checklist. It was actually just a confirmation of change of embassy :P

I-130 for both parents

March 28th 2013 - Priority date/ NOA 1
November 14th 2013 - Transferred to Nebraska Service Center

January 7th 2014 - Case changed online to approved for both

January 8th 2014 - case changed to shipped to NVC

January 9th 2014 - case changed to NOA 2 mailed

January 10th 2014 - Received the hardcopy of the NOA 2 stating that NVC would issue a case number in 30 days approx.

January 21st 2014 - Case Received at NVC

February 26th 2014 - Case numbers and IIN number received - Wrong embassy code assigned...now waiting for new case numbers.

March 3rd 2014 - Filled in DS-261 for both parents

March 5th 2014- AOS available, paid and submitted AOS packet.

March 6th 2014 - USPS shows packet was delivered at NVC

March 10th 2014 - AOS shows as paid in the CEAC portal/AOS logged into system as being received by NVC.

March 11th 2014 - New case number assigned for my Dad.

March 20th 2014 - Paid IV fee for my Mum.

March 25th 2014 - AOS accepted by NVC with no checklist.

March 26th 2014 - Filled in and submitted DS-260 for my Mum

March 31st 2014 - AOS found in my Mum's file for my Dad - accepted and placed into his file/IV fee available for my Dad and Paid.

April 1st - Mailed all civil documents to NVC for both parents.

April 3rd: IV fee shows as paid in portal/submitted DS-260 for my Dad.

April 22nd: checklist issued for civil documents - NVC error ...

April 23rd: sent another certified copy of my marriage certificate

April 24th: Case complete! :)

April 30th 2014 - Medical scheduled for parents at Knightsbridge in London

June 11th: Interview at London Embassy - Approved :)

Hi, I have question to saylin and also other friends..

Do you guys see anyone in VJ before who filled tax return as Married filling jointly without putting ITIN number and just did as NRA.

I know ITIN number is required but my accountant told me that he did many tax return as MFJ with NRA ( no ITIN)

I do not have enough time to apply for ITIN and sign papers to my wife.

Also, If I do as MFS than I owe IRS to 28000$ and MFJ only 21,000$.

So I was thinking to take a risk at this point.

Any ideasssssssssss?idea9dv.gifidea9dv.gif

We did ours with the 'NRA' option. I could not find a way to electronically file it. We had to file the hardcopy, via USPS. This will take longer.

Also, if you file as MFJ, you both have to sign the return. If you have power of attorney for your spouse, you can sign for both. My option was to email a pdf version to my husband. He printed and signed it, included it with other original papers we need for the NVC.

When you submit it to the IRS, use USPS Priority mailing option and get the Certified green, return card option as well (should cost about $11.60 per mailing; federal and state tax offices). Then, make an account on the IRS.gov site and you can track the progress of when they receive the federal tax and when it is processed. There are also apps for the iPhone, for the tracking. If you have the time, you can do it this way.

Hope this can help you.
