I've already seen people ask about the extensions for filing taxes. But I live abroad so I get an automatic 2 month extension. I plan to file my taxes when I take a trip to the USA in May. Can I simply write up a letter saying because I live abroad I have a 2 month extension and plan to file before June 15?

Another question (and I promise I tried to find this info first). How do I type in my Case # and IIN? With spaces? With dashes? All together?

Ms. Saylara:

AOS package mailed today (3/18) to NVC along with the cover letter as per your letter template. Please update my records in the spreadsheet.

I could not find the letters in the new wiki version of the NVC write-up? I think they were quite helpful to use as a check list so I do not forget to include everything needed.

Thanks.

Who's Saylara? :P

And added links to my sample cover letters in the wiki. But I'm not sure why you would use them as a checklist since the list of items needed is listed in the wiki.

Yes, definitely include a letter. And I'd suggest including a print-out of where it states you get an automatic 2 month extension (cause I've never heard of that before).

No spaces, no dashes. Just the letters/numbers.

Dear Saylin (or anyone else here),

My question is similar, in regards to possibly having different information in the AOS packet, during the interview stage.

I was laid off last month. Currently, looking for employment. However, my case stage is ready to pay the AOS. In order to prevent delays, my daughter will be the sponsor. She is not part of my tax household, but living in the same domicile. If she, too, gets laid off, or once I find employment, is it possible to change the sponsor after the AOS is submitted or even after the beneficiary arrives into the States?

Thank you for any insight on this portion. Perhaps the answer is in the blog, and I am sorry for not reading through all of it before asking my question, but I am on only page 32, of 164 and I am still actively (frantically) looking for a job. We have gotten this far and then this travesty hit. sad.png

Does anyone know about the possibility of changing a sponsor after the AOS is submitted?

Yes, on the payment portal, where the bills are paid. I suggest you click on the last link in my signature and read that wiki.

It was approved from Nebraska. Beneficiary is from the Philippines I thought I fixed the Armenia error I guess I failed will update it again.

Looks like you updated it good.gif Thanks!

saylin please add me on your spreadsheet please. thanks smile.png received AOS and IV bill and paid yesterday 3/17/14.

You're already on the spreadsheet. And the next time tick is for when the packages are sent. I don't have columns for when bills are paid.
