You should not send the emails for EP until after you have a confirmation that they have accepted your ENROLL email. It is NOT the auto respons

I think this is something that needs to be clarified

According to the instructions here http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/immigrate/immigrant-process/documents/submit/how-to-submit-documents-to-the-nvc.html there is no mention of having to wait to receive an ENROLL accepted email before emailing anything to NVC. This is what is says:

Group B: Optional Electronic Processing - Choose from below

If your case is processing as part of Group B (see Table 1 above), then you may choose between electronic or mailing forms and documents to NVC.

Electronic >> (Submit scanned forms and documents by email)

If you wish to use electronic processing, you must first opt-in to electronic processing by following the steps below.

  1. Send an email to the NVC at NVCElectronic@state.gov.
  2. Enter the code “ENROLL” followed by your NVC Case Number in the Subject line of the email. For example: ENROLL GUZ2009123123. Refer to ONE CASE per email.
  3. Include in the body of the email:
    • Your name;
    • Your NVC case number;
    • The petitioner’s name and date of birth (if the visa petition is employment based, include the employer’s company/organization name instead of the petitioner’s name and date of birth);
    • The principal applicant’s name and date of birth; and
    • List all email addresses where you wish to receive correspondence from the NVC regarding your case.

      NOTE: If you chose to submit forms and documents electronically by email, then you MUST continue to submit all forms and documents by email.

  4. Once you have sent your opt-in e-mail to the NVC, you may follow the Group A: Electronic Processing guidelines above to submit documents to the NVC.

No mention of waiting for ENROLL accepted email before emailing the AOS or IV.

Saylin can you verify this as there seems to be a discrepancy somewhere? Saylin did you wait for the ENROLL accepted email before you emailed anything to NVC?

Per Saylin's MTL guide: Keep in mind, you should only email the two packages (AOS and IV) after you've gotten the acceptance email saying your case can now be processed electronically. You can find an example of what it says below in the section labelled Correspondence (it may have changed slightly since 2011).

I know that I didn't mail my things until after I received the ENROLL e-mail. Maybe ask an operator?

Well now I am even more hopeless. I sent mine again (yesterday) just like you did and I still have not received either of the two messages (do not respond or please allow 20 days to process.) I don't know what to do.

Christopher,

I sent mine at 345 yesterday and at 6pm the first one. The only thing I can think of is maybe you have to send it during business hours to get the automated response. But I dont know. Dont lose hope. Maybe try again next week to resend.

OK, Got it. Does make sense, but why would the Department of State not put that in THEIR instructions? Anybody that is doing their own immigration and not on this handy dandy website would not know to wait, and could possibly be delayed due to receiving wrong information from the Department of State?

I just found a strange contradiction in the I-864 instructions:

For annual household income, part 6, the instructions say: "This section is used to determine the sponsor's annual household income. Take your annual individual income from Item Number 5. Enter it on Item Number 6c."

If you look at the actual I-864 form, line 6c is the line where you put current income for Person 1 in the household that will be contributing. This person 1 is supposed to be among those other people contributing income from among your household size, so it makes no sense to write in your own income in there again.

Then the instructions talks about writing household members for lines 7-10, not counting 6 which is also a person you can write in...

On a sidenote, I have no one who will be contributing, not even my spouse since his income won't continue in the US, and mine won't either, so I have a zero for current individual income, a zero for current annual household income, and a joint sponsor...I just don't want a checklist for not writing something in 6c.

As if this process isn't difficult enough, they have to make instructions confusing for those who try to follow them...

I am the petitioner (USC). My husband is Senegalese.

Does this mean I can have my wife take the new documents with her to the interview? Or should I submit a new AOS now, and wait 2-3 weeks for it to be accepted? Thank for all the help.

The NVC has received the information you have submitted in reference to
the Affidavit of Support. Please be advised that the Affidavit of Support
information you have provided does not appear to meet the minimum
income requirement according to the current poverty guidelines to sponsor
the intending immigrant(s) for this petition. The consular officer will make
a decision regarding this requirement at the time of your interview. In
order to avoid delays, you may wish to submit an additional Affidavit of
Support (Form I-864) for a/another Joint Sponsor to the National Visa
Center to assist in sponsoring the intending immigrants.

For the IV packet, the marriage certificate and birth certificate have to be original or certified copies. How is everyone sending in their's, certified copies or original? Can a lawyer issue certified copies or is there any other way? I just realized it would be a big headache if I send in originals and they get lost in transit or NVC loses them. So for me it is certified copies for all civil documents except the PCC. I understand that though I will be sending in certified copies to NVC, I will have to produce the originals at the time of interview. Am I right?

I got the same message - just have your wife take in the new paperwork to the interview, and if they ask to see it then have her pull them out. Did you send in your 864 based on assets or income?? I did assets, so I think thats why I got that message.
