I called NVC and a lady told me to wait 20 to 30 business days since the day they received the file for a case number.

I guess they are improving their timelines little by little.

11/17/2016: Got engaged

Hey, Yep thats right. It is updated when i go into my timeline with all my dates. Then when i save it, it still says NBC on the main screen

Ahh, looks like transfers don't show up on the timeline. That's too bad :(

I know i have to probably wait a week or more atleast. But is there an AVR (if so, is it updated?) these days on the NVC number if we call afterhours? There isnt one during the working hours looks like.

Nope, AVR was shut down quite a long time ago. You can only speak with operators now, and only when they're open.

I need some advice from those of you who have filed their taxes as Married Filing Separately (MFS). Did anyone have issues in the Social Security section when they wrote in NRA for Non-Resident Alien? I just spoke to my tax lady and when she said that she tried doing my "taxes on the computer" that it just kept asking for a Social so she had to file me as single. I explained to her that filing as single is not an option as I am married and that will raise a red flag. protest6wz.gif

Did anyone have a similar experience or can anyone offer any advice? Thank you so much in advance. smile.png

ps: Just called NVC for an update on a case number and the lady wasn't very nice. unsure.png Guess they can't all be super nice.

your tax lady is probably referring to the fact that you can't e-file (as far as i know) with "NRA" as your spouse's SSN. you would have to file via mail. i did just that and the IRS cashed my check already so I assume everything is good on their end

Just got off the phone to NVC and got told case complete as off 11th March - Whoo Hoo!! Told the lady I spoke to that she had made our day!! Called the wife and gave her the good news - so happy!!! No Checklists at all!!!

One thing the lady did tell me is that we have to wait for an interview to be scheduled which I understand, but she did add that the London Embassy is still scheduling April interview slots!! So hopefully we should get a late April or early May slot!!! Which is fantastic news!!

Good Luck to everyone and I hope you get a speedy and easy passage through the NVC phase.

Thank you so much for this info! I just spoke to her and she said that she was going to input NRA and send it via mail.

I panicked for a minute because I wouldn't want them questioning our marriage at the interview for example and then denying my husband a Visa. That would be tragic!

I remember reading something about this somewhere in the mass of posts, but I can't remember what was finally suggested- when we write in current income and income from tax tanscripts, should we write the number completely as it appears on the documents, with cents, or rounded to the nearest dollar? Maybe I'm overthinking it, but I am a bit paranoid about getting a checklist. I guess the question applies more for the tax info, because for my income I am just putting one big fat zero smile.png

ps: Just called NVC for an update on a case number and the lady wasn't very nice. unsure.png Guess they can't all be super nice.

your tax lady is probably referring to the fact that you can't e-file (as far as i know) with "NRA" as your spouse's SSN. you would have to file via mail. i did just that and the IRS cashed my check already so I assume everything is good on their end

Exactly - no e-file. However I just did mine through HR Block online - it gives you an option box as to why your spouse does not have an SSN or ITIN. You check - non-resident alien...then at the end it red flags...but then you can print it out and mail it in. it populates the "NRA" in the space of the SNN for you. It was so easy! I got the recommend from someone earlier on this thread.
