Received an email from the embassy this morning. They have sent out a letter on 13th march, today, saying they are ready to process my 129 and to follow the instructions in the letter. Should get that letter tomorrow! Have everything ready, I'm good to go. Woohoo!

My wife is Canadian and I just submitted my AOS online. Did it really take 19 days to get just a confirmation that they received it? I think another Canadian applicant Christopher just asked the question of how long it will take to get an acknowledgement of receipt of the AOS

By the way all the trouble that i had to go through and now wait for confirmation, it seems a hell of a lot easier and faster just to mail everything. So far I dont see any benefit at all to this EP thing.

Yes, but they still need to process the information within 20 business days. Today I received confirmation that they looked over the packet + supporting docs and that's all fine and done (19 business days since mailed). All I'm waiting on now is a checklist I had for AOS.

With mail you would get confirmation that they have in the building sooner, but not like they would look at it any faster.

Yeah, I just submitted the ds260 last week and so I am confident that is asks back to age 16. I was not able to screen capture because I was using my work computer - but i know it would have been helpful to others. That would be awesome if you are able to do that - I know it would be incredibly helpful to everyone going through this. Would de-mystify at least that step! I think it helped me feel much less stressed when I knew what I needed going through the different stages.

I realize they would not look at it any faster, but a recognition of receipt would be nice so that another 20 business days would not be wasted in case of an error in transmission. Maybe in case of a checklist it would be easier just to email also. But the time and complexity of reducing scanned files to 10mb of data should be at least rewarded with an acknowledgement, LOL.. It was a good thing I noticed that requirement at the last minute otherwise I would have 100% gotten a checklist.

So I have a question that I haven't seen come up in this thread.

I have sent a total of 3 packages to the NVC: my AOS package on 2/08, a corrected I-864 for the AOS on 2-12 (because I noticed a mistake), and the IV package on 2-21.

The NVC has received 3 package from me on the dates of 2/18, 2/26, and 3/5 (they can't tell me what each package is but I assumed my packages were received in order)

I received a checklist for AOS on 3/6 and a false checklist for the IV package on 3/10.

However, I just got off the phone with the NVC to confirm the false checklist. The lady told me that they are just waiting for the IV package to be reviewed, and that my financial information was "ok". She said that both my submissions from 2/18 and 3/05 had been reviewed, and that the package from 2/26 was still pending review. If that is true, that would mean that my IV package was received on 2/26 and my corrected I-864 was received on 3/05, even though I sent the IV package 9 days after I sent the corrected I-864.

I know that was probably really confusing but, has anything similar happened to anyone else??

It might be that the AOS department got backlogged, so it took them longer to officially "receive" the second package. That's the only reason I can come up for that. But, it's not really a big deal either way.

Added. Since you don't have a signature: When was your case number assigned? When did you send the IV package? When did you complete the DS-260?

Do the rules and procedures change much since the DS 261 and DS 260 replaced the older? Do you still need the Barcode for anything if the petitioner does both forms online? Everybody has to do the online forms?

u need the barcoded sheet / document cover sheet in sending in AOS & IV docs to NVC

Hi guys,

I have a question about filing status for tax return. On W2 form it was saying to file as single if my spouse doesn't have alien registration number or SSN or if she doesn't live in USA. Due to that I filed it as single but per Saylin's post a married person must file as married irrespective of anything and filing as single is fraud. For me filing as single is not fraud because the W2 form from IRS says to do so for a person whose spouse doesn't have alien registration number or SSN and if she never been in USA. For petitioners whose spouse lives in Mexico or Canada, filing as married make sense because the IRS law says to do so. I will appreciate if you can help me on this sensitive issues. I am also planning to contact local IRS office. Thanks!
