I'm sorry I haven't read all 120 pages on this thread so don't know if it's been said already. You can file MFS using e-filing if you use H&R Block. I don't know if any other software works also.

With H&R Block, if you leave your foreign spouse's SSN blank, it takes you to another page where you can select a reason why it's blank. In our case, because we're not yet permanent residents or citizens.

The return went through no problem and my husband paid the taxes he owed without any obstacles.

Again, sorry if this was already mentioned.

Great post...some E file systems don't interface like this and force you to paper file or file W-7 to get ITIN to E file

Hi Saylin,

Can you please add me to the NVC spreadsheet? My info is in my signature below.

Also, we are almost ready to send our AOS documents. Is it OK that some of the documents are printed double-sided?

Thank you for all your efforts.

Hi, did you have your case expedited?, I mean by your signature you got approved Feb. 26 and already have a case number and paid the AOS fee. That's nice!

Thank you for all your efforts.

Added.

Which documents exactly are double-sided? It's better if they're not as the reviewing officer may not look at the back.

Maybe now we can get it faster. When i applied it was by snail mail.

They added the option a couple of months ago. Even with snail mail though, we always got our transcripts within 2 weeks of the request.

Perfect, I am way less stressed now!! Thanks "immigration fairy Saylin"! (your cute reminder post made me laugh) goofy.gif

You're welcome! And thanks ^_^

That is awesome! You cannot do that with turbo tax! I used turbo tax and this was my first year filing married, I filed married filing separate and that requires me to print out the forms to hand write in NRA in spouses SSN area and then mail in taxes. This is terrible because electronic filing is instant and you get paid in a week or two where as mailing it in take 4 weeks just for them to put you into the system. There is actually a tax forum on VJ though....

Looks like NVC actually logged my AOS packet into the computer on Monday. Glad it got there but now I wish they would review it quickly so I can get the checklist that I am most likely going to get over and done with! (I'm remaining pessimistic so I can be pleasantly surprised if I don't get one). tongue.png

Hello Collie,

Did you find out it was logged into the system by calling the NVC? Just curious as I sent mine by email on March 6th which is when your timeline says NVC received yours. I called them this morning and they said its not showing as received yet, strange that mine would take 3 more days to log in.... thank you.

No expedites...even we were surprised. We just called to see if our case reached NVC and they told us "it arrived yesterday and here is your case number". I hope this is a sign that processing times are improving. :)

Is the main information on the front? If so, that should be okay. Really, as long as the I-864 form itself is printed one-sided, you should be okay.

Ok so now that I have seen the new DS-260 from that link posted a few pages back, are they just wanting the last 3 addresses lived or is it still since age 16?

My reading of it is they want the three previous addresses before your present address.

I have not reached this stage yet. Found this link on another thread frommember "iamatemple"

who appears to have saved it when access was gained to the system in late Jan 2014.

I have noted differences between this one and the 2009 version.

Hopefully someone from this thread who has accessed the system will authenticate this smile.png

Here is the link again to the DS-260 2014-Version. https://drive.google.com/file/d/0ByW6p0PzShCNQlQ3V2FDZHBDWmM/edit?usp=sharing

Here is the thread I obtained it from http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/480038-ds-260-blank-2014-version-here/

You send the entire tax package with the W7 to a specific address for ITIN generation. Once the ITIN has been generated, they'll forward it to the main IRS department and they'll process your tax return as normal. During that, you will get a paper with the ITIN, but you don't need to do anything with it; it's just for your records.
