I changed the profile. My application was sent to phoenix az, then it was transferred to NBC, then to Nebraska Service Center and approved on 2/14. NVC received it on 2/25/14.

Welcome to NVC. Now is the time to put together the AOS and IV package documents. You have about 30 working days or 6 weeks till the Case # being assigned. Then a few more days for DS261 to become available (they said about a week).

Tried to log in to see if the AOS fee bill has been generated. Got the following message in Red. "This case is in the process of termination. Fee payments and online forms can no longer be accepted…". Panicked for a second.

But then remembered Ms Saylin had addressed this issue already in her Post #2. God bless her.

NVC is on a roll. DS-261 became available after only 1-day receiving the Case #. Completed and submitted. The invoices are not available yet. I can see those Yellow padlocks on them.

Now that you are in NVC, please ask Ms Saylin to add you to the "Google Doc" she is maintaining. It is a wonderful tool for all of us to estimate our wait times etc. Thanks.

Another question...

So i see its recommended to have 4 passport style photos.

-When I originally submitted petition I had two photos of my spouse. (1 remaining since only one entered with packet)

-Can i make copies of that one or should my spouse take a new photo and have 4 prints?

On the NVC website it says only two photos are required and also they can't be older than 6 months old...

"Photographs

You must submit two identical color photographs. Review Photograph Requirements for size specifications and more information."

"Your photos or digital images must be:

Taken within the last 6 months to reflect your current appearance" so if the one picture u have isn't older than 6 months your good to go...

My case just got approved, I checked the status online. Now what to do? When do start calling NVC, when I get the noa2 letter or after the online approval?

Do ask for the beneficiary number/ID also, I saw in a screenshot it was needed for the DS261 and DS260?

Give NVC about 2 weeks to receive your case file. Call them (probably once a week) to find out the date they received your file. Then count 20 working days. Call again probably once a week to find out if they have assigned a Case #.

Meanwhile please do the following:

1. Read posts 1 and 2 thoroughly (posted by Ms. Saylin). They are going to eliminate most if not all mistakes that people make at the NVC stage.

2. Prepare and ready all the documents for the AOS and IV packages.

3. Request Ms. Saylin to add you to the Google Doc she is maintaining.

it took that long because uscis accidentally sent the petition to another uscis field office rather than sending it to nvc. i didn't follow up on it right away because my lawyer had told me to just wait until we receive any correspondence. that is why i seek some questions through there (visajourney) which some vj members have been very helpful with my situation and gave me some advices on what to do.

just a question now that i have my case # and invoice id #, what do i do next because i just don't want to sit here and wait for my lawyer.... i am scared that they won't act on my husband's case on a timely manner.

my husband's petition was filed since oct. 2012 and we are just in the NVC process just now. don't you think the timeline is off????? so that's why i've been trying to get ahead on things because i want this to finish and i want to be with my husband as soon as possible.

i also know that we would get a checklist since we can't provide the police clearance from singapore since singapore doesn't issue it for non singaporean. now that's another problem that i will be facing. ((

If you're currently not working, then yes, you'll need a joint sponsor.

You/she can't remember the last 5 visits? You can try at the CBP office if you absolutely have no other way of finding out when you visited. I'm assuming they would be able to get the data for you. I'm assuming it would have to be her that goes, not you. And she should bring her passport with her, in case it's needed.

I got my case number last Wednesday, paid the AOS fee by Friday, filled out DS-261 by Saturday and by tomorrow they should have my AOS packet. I hope everythig else speeds along!

Thanks for the reply... could you please suggest what all information do these NVC guys ask from me while enquiring about the receipt of the case file.

Sorry for not responding sooner. Based on your 2/17 NVC receipt date you should start calling NVC starting next week, to find out your Case # and IIN. It is taking about 30 working days right now for this step.

If your Case # is not available they will only ask for the USCIS Case # MSCxxx....Once they have the Case # available, they will want to know some more id info - your name, DOB, address, email ID, beneficiary name, DOB. You should also give them the beneficiary email ID at this point. Note down the Case # and IIN from them.

Meanwhile please read posts 1 and 2. They are very helpful in answering most of the questions we have about these processes.

Received a pretty cool phone call today from my Senator's office. Back on February 12th, I asked them to make an inquiry to USCIS on my case because out of processing time and that I was having knee surgery. 9 days later, probably coincidental, we were approved.

Today, I had my surgery and Senator McCain's office called while the anesthesia was still wearing off to check on how my surgery went. They said I should already have been approved and shipped from USCIS and then received by NVC. Nice and informative lady asked e to fax over my approval and not to worry that they will be following up to ensure that everything is processed in a timely fashion. Hopefully it will get my case flagged or something to help speed it along. If not, it's nice to have my Senator's office following my timeline as well and reminding me and everyone else "Hey who's working on this?"
